Anyone tried car type plug patches on a tubeless tyre? Did it work? Managed to hole a Srb prowler on its second ride out. The sticky string didn't hold. Just wondering if a plug patch might do the trick.

never got on with the stick string type repair but have had great results with the panaracer outside repair kit. Same principal as the sticky string but using strips of rubber,& has lasted until the tyres worn out.

Aren't they very similar in that they both wedge the hole fully of stuff?

Yes the Panaracer one is similar in how it works to the string (Weldtite) ones work.

I've used both successfully but not tried a car type one on bigger holes so would be interested to know if they work too?

I've tried conventional patches before but the bulge. Thought the car ones with the plug and pin on the end might work better.

Gotta be worth a shot. Don't cost much!

I've a tubeless tyre that I have a split right on the bead on! Wondered if I could bodge it with a mushroom style plug as a normal patch won't work there....

the genuine innovations anchovy ones are good - left some of them in tyres for months with no problems.

tbh I find that normal patches work fine, and if the hole is big then super glue it from the outside too.

Found some on eBay. I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Turned up today. Seem to do the job. Tyre holding air right now. I'll put some jizz in later and take it out for a test ride tomorrow.

I got these but I guess you could pop into any tyre repair place and ask nicely.
