Have run my semi slick rear tyre as long as possible but admitted defeat and bought a tyre with some centre knobs for climbing the squidge. The old mk was my least liked tyre but the mk2 in 2.4 seems to actually corner! And not being overly knobbly, it seems to clear mud too. Not noticed any obvious grip issues on roots and wet rocks despite not being black chilli. £17. Not sure I'd risk one on the front though.
Well I put another cheapo 2.4 mk 2 on the front today with a little trepidation, at about 28psi. Do you know what? It was absolutely fine on the mud limestones and roots (and the odd loose logs) . My new favourite cheap tyres.
I liked my rubber queens, which is just a slightly more aggressive version of the same tread, but I had issues with sidewall durability, even in the PROtection version.
