Hi,

Another move, another look around for trusty hands.

Also someone handy with brakes and shocks/forks if you please?

Cheers!

Wharnecliffe cycle tech for forks, shocks and brakes. Proper good and cheap.

Just riding along for all things to do with wheels. Both excellent set ups.

Welcome to the republic of South Yorkshire!

I thought JRA only do wheels they've built?

They say that, and that they will only re-rim a wheel bought from them, but they re-rimmed a hope hoop bought elsewhere for me in the past.
If the op is in Rotherham there is always jejames there. I've used the Sheffield branch over the years and always had good service.

Would recommend 18 bikes in hope for all of the above. Big matts wheels have suffered several thousand off-road kilometres with me.

Hi,

A bit of self resurection of the thread.

JRA, in deed they are not building wheels if you provide them with hubs and/or rims, unless you bought it from them.

So, any other recommendation without JRA reserves?

Cheers!
I.

I'd third 18 Bikes, BIG Mat does build an awaesome wheel.......

I've had problems with both Shocks and brakes, So i always send off to TF Tuned for Shocks, I use HOPE brakes, Last time i snapped a brake lever and pulled the Braided hose out of the lever i took it off packed it up and sent to Hope, 3 Days later a brand new Lever and calliper arrived all bled up and ready to fit.

18 Bikes have done a few sets of carbon wheels for us as well as sorting out all sorts of other problems for us. Building a bike up for me at the moment. Cant think of anyone else in South Yorkshire I would want to use. Worth a visit or a chat.

I'd also go with 18 bikes. Really good service and know their stuff. Have sorted all sorts out for me in the past, including a couple of wheel builds that are still going strong after lots of miles.

Hi,

A bit of update.

Last Friday afternoon managed to drop rims and hubs to Tony Butterworths.

To my greatest surprise on Saturday morning had message: Your wheels are built and ready to collect Sir.

WOW!!! Never had wheels built that quick 😀

Picked it up today. Service with a smile, bunch of good advice how to take care about wheels, through axle quick releases and so on. Nice chit-chat.

Oh! And free re-tensioning service after couple of hundred miles. But only if necessary 😀

Will give it a bash on Sunday - hopefully - and report back on built quality.

Cheers!
I.

Hi,

A bit of update on the wheels from Tony Butterworth Cycles.

I must say I'm mighty impressed as last weekend I've done Cut Gate all way from Howden to Langsett.

Only one notion, that was on the crosser

Outcome, only 2 lose spokes in the front wheel.

Cheers!
