We had another unwelcome visit on Wednesday night and have been completely cleaned out. The thieves used hand tools to break the garage door locks while we slept and have managed to get away with 11 bikes, most of them pretty unique. Warwickshire Police were brilliant and were round within an hour of us calling, forensics were there an hour later. It was targeted and pretty professional, CCTV shows three blokes with covered faces, in an out within ten minutes, I'm really glad I slept through it TBH. We are in Studley, Warwickshire, so if anyone local spots anything resembling the below a DM would be massively appreciated. Ebay surfers too.

[img] [/img]
Marin Hawkhill 3, It now has Hunt Trailwides and Slik Graphics Pike stickers. The Revelation has a Charger damper upgrade, so definitely not stock.

[img] [/img]
Cotic Solaris Mk1, this one's completely custom an as it appears in the photo. Again, unlikely to be many about with Manitou R7s on.

[img] [/img]
Mrs LJ's Vitus Mythique

[img] [/img]
And her Calibre Point. This one had my old Reba's on it.

[img] [/img]
Oldest Lad's NS Clash Jr. Also completely custom. Losing this one really hurts.

[img] [/img]
Also his old Commencal Ramones 24 with 26" wheels squeezed in there.

[img] [/img]
Littl'uns Saracen Mantra 2.0. He'd only just progressed to gears.

We had also just got him a Nuke Proof Cub Scout 20 we were due to surprise him with next weekend. I don't even have a photo of that. That's gone.

[img] [/img]
My geriatric, awesome favourite bike, Scandal Monstercross. Obviously very distinctive. I really thought I'd be buried with that one.

[img] [/img]
My Cube Attain. Pretty much stock, but with Gravel Kings on it.

[img] [/img]
Finally my custom Boardman SLR. Full Ultegra with carbon 3T finishing kit.

If you've managed to stay with me so far, thanks. Now go and check your security, mine wasn't good enough. I am mostly insured but at todays prices, there will be a lot less bikes in my immediate future. Sorting the boys is my first priority (after a secure garage) as they love their bikes and riding.

Please have a better week than mine.

Really sucks especially as you said "another" unwelcome visit. 🙁

Bikes in bedroom, kids in garage?

Ah, that's shit, sorry to hear this.  Sounds like you had them pretty well protected as well what with CCTV footage. Guess it's down to insurance now though

Really sucks especially as you said “another” unwelcome visit.

To be fair, we were last done over ten years ago, but the feeling of seeing nothing, where there should be bikes, was horribly familiar.

**Waves**

I don't do Face Ache, but Mrs LJ is all over that. Neighbours on both sides have some pretty nice bikes they have now brought indoors. I wouldn't have thought it was local, as I say it was very professional and there have been similar targeted attacks across the Mids. I'm idly guessing though.

I feel for you. I've only ever been burgled once and they took nothing. It's a horrible experience and you have my deepest sympathy :o(

This really sucks @LimboJimbo. My attitude to my bikes being stolen (if/when it happens) is that they are insured and can be replaced, they are only bits of metal. Reading your list of bikes they are not just bits of metal, they are memory makers for you and your family, I really hope you find the ones that mean the most. I will keep an eye out on fleabay for this as I am on there a bit at the moment selling stuff. That Cotic will stand out like a sore thumb along with the Scandal and hopefully that will be their downfall. Sorry again, we should be able to have things without people taking them off us, sad times

@LimboJimbo - I have a mint Syncros RR wide width road saddle which I would and can donate to you in order to aid a bike build to get you up and running.

That is literally all the spares I have oh and some new tubeless tape and valves iirc.

Message me if want. 👌

bloody scumbags. Glad to see you're insured, so hope you get something that gives you as much pleasure as that lot did. Especially hope it all happens quick for the kids. 11 bikes in 10 minutes! Utter bastards.

no way. gutted for you.

Is your garage attached to the house? How did they gain entry? always curious to then try and combat it in future.

Damn, that really sucks. 😢 With such a large range of bikes, you've got a lot to search though, the find that bike tool of Stolen Bikes UK website might be helpful.

That's a lovely offer, thank you. Luckily my spares box was untouched so I have a bit of a head start. I am waiting for a insurance offer, as I think the above list may have blown their minds. I'm having to supply lots of photo's and details, unsurprisingly.

Integral garage. I don't really want to go into too much detail on a public forum, but it involved cutting sections out of the door to access the internal release. There are a couple of ways they could have been slowed down, but I'm not really in a hindsight frame of mind just yet. The replacement will be substantially better and may include explosives.

That sucks!

We're not far away, just the south side of the A46 from you, and often ride past Studley, so will keep an eye out.

I had 2 high value bikes nicked out my garage back in 2019. They left my whyte behind which I now have a little chuckle about as it clearly wasn't cool enough to steal. I never believed it would happen to me and always thought my garage was too difficult to break into. They somehow got in a tiny window and dismantled the bikes and passed them out bit by bit. My bedroom is just above the garage and I didn't hear a thing.

I have since bought a ring alarm system and it works really well and didn't break the bank. There's a window sensor and a movement sensor. My partner tests it at least weekly as she always forgets to turn it off 🙂

Absolutely gutted for you. Just a truly horrible experience.

I'm down the road in Leamington so will certainly keep em peeled.
Got a medium steel hardtail and a fatbike if you're desperate for a ride and need something.

So sorry to hear.

Feel for you - been a victim before as well, twice in quick succession but thankfully that was a long time ago now. What I just can't get my head around is the mentality of stealing something from someone...

@kayak23 Thanks for the offer, and to everyone else for their kind words

A small confession. One of the reasons I posted this on here was that I think I needed to offload a little to folk who 'get it.' Most of the responses from people I know have been along the lines of 'at least it was just bikes' and that's true, of course, but I suspect I could have said lawnmower and they would have seen it the same way.

I can't really talk to Mrs LJ in too much depth, she's really struggling with this due to finding an intruder in her house when she was 17.

You might not think it's much but you've given me a bit of a boost today.

Thank You.

That's shocking.

Any neighbours with ring door bells for a reg number?

Hope the kids aren't to shook up with it all.

Shit the bed that ****ing awful! Hope insurance comes back with a decent offer. My mate got a Capra nicked not long ago and didn't think he'd get anything on house insurance, but they just said, "look on this website and pick one"!!

I'd rather get my car nicked than my bikes!

It's heart breaking. We had our shed cleared out a few years ago. It's really annoying losing your own bike(s) but it's so sad to see the impact on the kids when it's their bikes that are stolen - it's a real blow to their view of humanity at such an early age.

I imagine the loss of the 'surprise' is probably the most upsetting.

We think they parked in the lane outside our cul-de-sac, they seemed very camera shy.

Thankfully the kids are at their grandparents this week, we will tell them when we see them at the weekend. We have decided on the white lie that they were stolen during the day, while we were out. They don't need to be worried about things like this happening while they sleep.

My ten year old is a worrier, the five year old will want to hunt the baddies down with a bow and arrow. I'm not sure who I'm more concerned about to be honest.

Sorry to hear it. I constantly live in fear of mine being taken. There's only so much you can do to deter / slow them down etc but where there's a will there's a way. I think the key is to not let them know you have bikes in the first place. Easier said than done if you're a social media / strava user.

Hope you get some justice!

I'll be replacing my garage door with double UPVC at some point, much more secure and what's the point of a garage door when you never put a car in there!

Know how it feels to have been cleaned out of bikes. Very sorry for you and your family. Sadly distinctiveness is not a reliable indicator. I had a unique titanium Merlin and an Airnimal Rhino stolen and never seen again (along with all the other bikes stolen). I mean how many of you have ever even seen an Airnimal Rhino in the flesh?!

Sorry to hear this.

I lost 3 in one night, 8 years ago this weekend. My garage wasn’t particularly easy to get into, but two other garages were broken into on the same night, so it looked like someone had been watching us. I think that was the worst thing about it, at the time.
