A friend of mine has a Canyon full sus with Sram GX 1x12 with a 50T cassette. It's a lightly used bike, although he's a powerful chap and not very mechanically sensitive!
He got a twig stuck in the rear mech/cassette and bent the hanger. I straightened it (with a jig) but noticed the cage was slightly out of line too, but the shifting on my workstand seemed OK. On a ride, he says the gears are still missing and slow changing, skipping, esp in the middle of the cassette so he bought a new GX mech and hanger.
I've put both of these on for him, plus a new cable and it was a bit of a fiddle to get the shifting smooth, but eventually got there (it should've been a quick switch over, so was interested why it wasn't). Again, on a ride, he says it's skipping/sketchy in the middle, and struggling to smoothly go into the top/bottom of the cassette.
The chain and cassette are well within wear limits.
What am I missing here? Thanks
I suppose the hanger could be a few mm different so can't assume it's a straight swap. A P7 replacement dropout/hanger I fitted once was thicker, so needed to adjust everything.
I'd work through the lot as if setting up from scratch. Limits, b-screw, then cable tension.
Are any of the cogs bent a little bit in the cassette?
