Hello all

My current road bike shoes cause my feet to loose the feeling in my toes so I am in the market to buy a new pair

upper limit £80 really

I have size 10ish wide feet and usually ride up to 60 miles in a morning, although I have a few monster rides planned

Does anyone have any experience of shimano RO87 as decathlon has a good deal on I think

http://www.decathlon.co.uk/shimano-ro87-shoes-id_8166295.html

I will be riding with cleats

Many thanks
Joe

I brought a pair, a couple of weeks ago, as my 1st pair of road shoes along with some 105 pedals. Went for a wide fitting rather than normal width.

Done about 220miles in them (including Dunwich Dynamo 115miles) and very pleased with them from both a comfort & bang for buck viewpoint. Found quite a difference power wise as well compared to an old pair of touring shoes & spd pedals.

If you can get to Decthalon to try them out thats a stonking price.

Thank's for the quick response !
Are they a stiff shoe? I'm sure I read on here that a stiff shoe is much better for riding comfort!

I have those & find them comfy, stiff and a nice fit. The ratchet closure keeps 'em secure too.

I've got the off-road version of those, nice shoe, but very small sizing - I usually wear a 42-43, but had to go up to a 45...

Got some specialized bg sports that seem good, nice and comfy.

The DHB shoes from Wiggle seem to get great reviews, no personal experience though

Dhb shoes are great, I have the 50 quid ones which are great, a mate has the carbon pair which he reckons are as good as his sidi's.

Go to a good bikeshop and get some proper advice.. you can try them on and buy them...!

Giro Trebles or Trans are very good shoes and come in a HV (high volume) upper so good for wide fat feet

I have wide (and high) feet and the older version of those Shimano shoes - think mine are RO86. They are 'quite' comfy. I don't really notice them when pedalling but if I'm stopped - either just at lights or for a brew - I notice that my feet are aching after a couple of hours. It's not the kind of thing I'd have picked up trying them on in the shop. My old Spesh BG's were comfier longer. So when the Shimano ones wear out I'll go back to Spesh BG.

But your feet are different to mine so ignore all of the above.

If you have wide feet then definitely look at Specialized. Excellent shoes. Should really try before you buy though.

thanks everyone, I am going to go to decathlon and try the shimano ones on, if not I will go to the lbs and see how much more expensive they are, although their advice usually is worth paying for, and keeps the lbs open!

I have the Loius Garneue Ventilator shoe. £60 I think. Horrible. Don't get them if you have feet like mine. Which you probably don't. Much like those ^ lot. Same as saddles. One type does not fit all.

I also bought the Specialized Body Geometry (BG) sports road shoe.

Very comfortable and very stiff - I like them a lot. Three Velcro strap closure which works nicely.

They do look like quite a narrow fitting but that may just be the look of them as they are size 48!
