There's a few mm of up and down play in mine. Are they all like that, or is something loose in my set?
Are they air U-turns ?
If so its probably play in the helix that the u-turn adjuster runs up & down on.
When wound fully up or down it usually disapears.
Not sure of the cure, new u-turn assy I guess. I think you can swap the assy for a std fixed height one.
I have some cheap (£100) Pikes that do it, but also had it on £350 set of maxle Revs a few years back.
Yes, air U-turn. Not overly bothered by it, as long as the legs aren't going ti suddenly fall off and kill me that's ok 🙂
Yeh, they do go like that. I'll bet if you wind them all the way down or all the way out it stops?
I find slapping a load of nice thick grease on the u-turn helix helps a lot. 🙂
I had it on a 2006/8 (ish) set of Rev U Turns and they are still going fine.
I've got slight movement in a 2010/11 Rev RLT Ti two position fork and they are doing fine.
As Poddy says grease on uturn helix and/or PTFE tape 😉
Is it easy to access without taking the lowers off?
Let all air out, undo and 'crack' bottom nut, take top cap off and pull whole uturn assm. out the top cap will just screw off the helix.
Or you can pop up the woekshop (you're in Cardiff arn't you?) and I'll show you what to do. 😀
I'm back in Cardiff tomorrow, yes 🙂 I should be ok, I've done a fair few forks but I'd sooner not have to deal with oil and whatnot, it's too much faff for this weekend. Cheers tho.
Incidentally I found out that running 20psi more in the negative dramatically improves the forks, at the expense of about 3mm total travel...
