My rear pro 2 started to develop play so i decided to replace the bearings, but theres is still some play in it, less than before but still not 100%.
Any ideas what could be the cause of this? Could the worn driveside seal be the trouble as i didnt replace this?
All 5 bearings replaced?
I doubt the seal will cause anything. it can only be the bearings unless the spindle is worn and the movement is between spindle and inner race
yep all 5 it was, they were just ebay bearings could be the problem
How much did the bearings cost?
like £12 for all them
They won't have very close tolerances, so there is a good chance they are causing the problem, they also burn out very quickly and rust badly as well.
I can sell you a top end set for £22 + postage, however I would make sure it's the bearings before you change them.
well they definitely havent rusted yet, only in 2 weeks and havent seen much use at all. ill take it apart and see if theres anything out of placed
When you take it apart use the axle for leverage and see if there is excessive play in the bearing.
Cheap bearings aren't very well built, this means they have play before you even fit them. The amount of leverage in a rear wheel may be sufficient to cause play in the back end.
Also rotate the bearings manually with your finger see how they feel. Good luck!
have you misse dthe freehub (inside) spacer out per chance?
I like Hope hubs, but they could be so easily improved by using a system such as king & mavic, whereby small amounts of bearing play can be easily removed.
