Afternoon,
I have got some lateral play on my Alfine hub (8 speed) which is noticed when you wobble the wheel. Is there a way of tightening this up. I have tried tightening the cones but this doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. Are there 2 cone bolts on each side?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Looks like there's cone nuts on both sides, although I have only ever tightened the one side. Worth a try though I suppose!!

I think you only have the cup/cones on the non-drive-side. They tighten the hub shell onto a large ball bearing race inside the hub - so nothing to adjust on the drive side.
cheers - so presume I remove the brake disc, the locking nut and then tighten cone nut and replace the locking nut?
Thanks
You adjust the left (non driveside) cone as you do any other bearing cone. You'll need to take the disc off to get to it. You should aim for barely perceptible play out of the frame which should be taken up when the wheel is tightened in place.
