You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Afternoon all, I have a Ti Pickenflick frame that has unfortunately developed 2 crack in the rear drive side chain stay, its gone on the tube seam. I've had it 5 years this coming December. Thing is when I got the frame I know they came with a 5 year warranty, but now its down to 2. Can anyone else remember the frame warranty from back then, or had a similar issue? I'm gutted they say its not a warranty when I can remember it saying it on their website when I was toying with buying it. I truly love this frame, but feel gutted that I canny get a warranty on the tube seam going.
Any help much appreciated,
thanks.
5 years out titanium frame I’d say you done well
Have you actually spoken to them?
Warranty it - although probably easiest to just call Brant on here... I believe if you say his name three times he normally appears pretty quick.
(Also their online chat is pretty good)
Yes I spoke to them via the live chat. At first they said it wasn’t a warranty, but then said it was and I have till dec to sort it. They even sent a courier to collect, but now I have an email saying it not a warranty due to only 2 years 🙁 I’m really sure back when I bought it it had a 5 year warranty, I don’t know why why agreed and sent a courier. I wouldn’t of sent it off if it was a flat no at first. Ho hummm
Must be biscuit time? Chocolate hobnobs for me please.
So you've already sent it off?
This will be good..
What’s your sales order number please?

Yes Duncan.
Just can't get them here, apparently the sentence for illegal import is 13 years for sedition. Don't get me started on Yorkshire tea!
Buenas tardes Brant
Just sent you a Pm Brant with a bit more detail and the order ref no. Cheers.
"All Planet X, On-One and Titus products carry a 2 year warranty for the original owner as standard. Titanium frames extend this to 10 years. All other branded goods carry the full manufacturer's warranty which can vary in duration but will be a minimum of 1 year." - as of Jan 2015.
Cheers ajaj, that’s what I remember, I knew the titanium frames said it was longer than the 2 years. Where did u find that info?

The warranty protects the customer against manufacturing defects and faults but does not cover issues, problems or damage arising from wear and tear, misuse, modification, improper installation or crash damage.
From Nov 2015
Well, happy days. All sorted just like that, I've got a lovely email today saying a nice new spanking frame is on its way to me. Mega impressed with that service, Planet X have been brilliant 🙂
Cheers Brant if you see this, really appreciate it. NEW FRAME YAY :)!!!
You can say a lot about some of the service over the years from P/X and O-O, but at times Brant in particular really does go out of his way to improve customer service.
If the old Faithful Parkwood ever gives up, i'll replace with someone from them that's for sure.
Fabulous. Long may single_on-one_trackworld reign 🙂

I fixed this for you.
PX and oo have certainly improved recently. Around the time Brant returned to work there. I don't think it's a coincidence.
Well done op. Post a picture of the new bike when it's built! 👍
Slight hijack, but are the frame tubes seamed? Not drawn?
Have i misunderstood?

Have they been brilliant??? They tried to refuse you at first until you posted publicly on here!
First rule of customer service: the customer is wrong.
wzzzz, No they have been brilliant, on the live chat they said it was a warranty, they collected it for free when they said they would. It was only when they sent an email saying it was 2 years warranty (that I do think it is now of frames) I put a post on here to try and find out if it used to be a longer warranty that I remembered.
New frame coming, so yes, it took all of 1 day and I'm happy.
Ok. So can I clarify ... Did the 10 year Ti frame warranty cover frames bought in 2015, or all frames bought since 2015? I've a Pickenflick, brought Jan 2018, no issues (yet?) but would be nice to know whether the warranty runs out in 3 months or whether it is longer than that?
So a little update. I went to collect the frame from where it had been delivered, got it home and began to unbox...... wait, what’s this?! Not only did I have a frame but a kicking new set of carbon forks to match! Wow 😮 happy chappy. Couldn’t believe it. It look mint 👍🏻
🙂
Of all my bikes the Pickenflick gets the most use by a country mile. It’s a December ‘14 model so hoping that I don’t have the same issue down the line as you. It’s a triggers broom bike with only the shifter, headset, fork and handlebar remaining from the original build so thinking of putting a through axle fork in to remove some gritty-brake rub. Such a great bike.
