For the second time i'm servicing the rear wheel on the road bike. its a Planet X superlight wheelset (type B i think???) and i've reliased the hubs are rebranded Novatech 162s. The bearings are completly different to anything listed on the PLanet X website 3 x 6901s and 1 x 6001.
I'm comfortable rebuilding the lot, but i've got two spacers that go over the axle in the freehub region.
One between the two bearings in the freehub, and one from teh freehub to the main body bearing.
One is silver and a bit shorter (alu i think) and teh other is a bit longer and a darker bronzey colour.
The question is, which way round should they go?
short silver in freehub and longer bronze between frehub and bearing, or the other way round?
I know which way they came out this time, but i'm not convinced i put them in right the first time. oops
Anybody else been through this / got an exploded diagram or any pointers?
just done this on my PX model b wheels.
from memory the longer one goes between the freehub bearing and the hub bearing. It should be pretty evident if it does not work. You can also measure the depth of the recess in the freehub, subtract the bearing widthx2 and that will tell you the spacer width required for the freehub.
Hope that makes sense!
