So after months of petrol wasting, ebay haggling, credit card hammering, evenings figuring out what would be the best stem length, researching how to research things, weight weenieing, copper slipping and allen key spinning my dream build is finally done! Weighing in at 19.5lbs she isnt a whole lotta rosie really.

The pile of bits

What i was aiming for, olympicesque

I recommend that you ride the shit out of it

I don't do race bikes but that does look quite smart

I was thinking of a Dirty Harry build, do you mind if I ask cost of build?
Also is your stem slightly off centre?

Interesting that you haven't gone for a chain guide.
How does it ride?

The Specialzed bike is great.

The Dirty Harry frame is just a copy by the looks of It. Are On One / Planet X claiming that's an in house design?

Either way I hope you enjoy your new bike.

Ver, very nice!!
I was waiting for the 20" carbon Dirty Harry - but they have been out of stock for a long time so after buying lots of the 29er kit in the xmas sales I weakened & went for the Fireline Ti 29er....
19.5lbs XTR vs 25lbs XT though I'm jealous.

Looks good - but as Shaley says - no chain guide?

Clutch mech so assuming fairly smooth trails/rider, chain device not required.....

Any thoughts?

Very nice, but:
Should've cleaned it for the photos fgs!
The top of the headset and the stripe on the stem really clash.

Njee & his scales to the thread

Sorry for the delay 😉

Looks about right, bit of a crime not to put xx1 on there! It'll need a chainguide, and the headset/stem do clash, but otherwise that looks good! Top marks for stem position!

Well on its maden blast i did this
[IMG] [/IMG]
Its bloody quick! I work for www.ukbikesdepot.com so i didnt have ti break into madison 😆 the build cost got a little out of hand, i started off with a 1500 budget from selling an oaf of a myst pro but i ended up doubling that plus a bit 😯 the multicoloured stem is to go with the red shiny bits, skewers, bottom bracket, brake bore caps, headset, rim decals and my old seat clamp which was a mt zoom one that weighed 5g but couldn't hold my seat post up so the black temporary until i get a hope clamp. As tomhoward said, clutch mech + short chain means i haven't dropped my chain once, even on the mega bumpy bit in hully gully in gisburn!

Really? I'd take the 50g weight penalty every time. You only need to drop your chain once to ruin a race.

Now, go and get 16 seconds quicker on that climb.

Any advice on a chain device, not too bulky?

XCRacer have got some pimpy light ones. I've bodged a Superstar seat tube mounted one with a DMR seat clamp and an offcut of carbon. Lighter and works better than the original!

Pics of the callipers with the switched bore caps please. (I want to do this too but it's a bit of a PITA with X2s going inwards instead of out!) I have a choice of blue (to match frame detail) and black (for stealth) to go on my Salsa Selma, and am undecided.

I'd get rid of the Crest stickers and leave the frame un-decaled.

Either a pauls or Hope IBR, pauls would just fit straight on but the hope system looks super neat 🙂

Chop the steerer down.
Fit a chain guide.
I was about to slag off colour of the the cranks, then noticed they were XTR. But black would look better.

Then ride it like you stole it. It looks fast as f***

Love it.

Like the bore cap, nice touch. Do you know if it's possible to get matching bolts for the levers? (I have Race X2 also, I like them).

IMO black cranks look good in the box but crap with a bit of heel scuff or wear and tear.

no theres no coloured lever parts unfortunately, steerers just been chopped, tried a black headset cap on it and it looked a bit odd, going to get a paul chain keeper and the xtr cranks will polish themselves up so they will always look fresher than black ones or carbon ones!

Just get any red alu bolts, fine for brake levers.

That's very nice and a 29er that would fit me. I rather fancy that in rigid.

tazzymtb are they the niner forks you're running?
