PX For; Light, good mixed riding wheels, excellent frame for the price.
Against; maybe a wee bit too short for the half gravel/half riverside path I want it for. Groupset not as good,on cyclescheme,so an extra £100.Bit pissed off with PX as been told that they wouldn't be doing any other specs on the DD on Tuesday and then bazinga! New version on Thursday!

Cannondale; For better groupset,£100 cheaper, not any heavier.
Against, The wheels would need replacing.Alu and roads=not comfy.
Now,I can't try either as I am in the middle of nowhere, but based on comfy geo on a road bike I am worried the PX would be too short at 576mm for the actual tt. Also, not a huge fan of Tiagra and Apex is the SRAM eq, the Cannondale is also 11 speed, so future proof.
Any opinions and in the usual STW manner, berating me for buying a bike without trying it etc most welcome. Esp from anybody 6"2" with a 34" inside leg who owns either!

I test rode a Caadx Tiagra and an Arkose 3 the other day found the brakes on the Caadx to be a real let down - and so looking at the Merida CX 500 instead…

Note: Found the Tiagra groupset to be quite a bit worse than the 105 but not something that'd stop me living with it - and it looks like PX have a Tiagra for £999 too

Went for a Caadx 105 from last year (20 speed, don't know if there is other differences?), and have used it for everything from cx races to sportives etc.

No problems comfort wise on over a 100 miles, but then don't have a "proper" road bike to compare it too.

Couple of riding buddies have a Boardman and a Pinncale Arkose 2, Boardman also seems great but the Pinnacle didn't age particularly well. For example, bar cleaning and lubing, the Caadx and Boardman have been faultless, the Pinnacle was sold on after a year requiring new rear hub, bb etc and generally having become quite creaky. Only thing I've done is pick up a cheap wheelset to save me changing between road/off road tyres.

I'm 5ft9 and went for a 54 which I reckon is about right.

I did also consider the PX XLS at the time, but was advised by others who know considerably more about road/cx bikes than me that the Caadx 105 was the better choice. Haven't tried Tiagra, but have been very impressed with the 105, not only has it stayed slick despite what its been put through, its done it with zero adjustment.

People have mentioned the brakes, there may be better cable pull disc brakes available, but to me they seem fine and again have been without issue. Would only consider upgrading them to full hydrualics, and price wise it's just not worth it at the moment in my opinion.

Been happy with it so far, in fact got a ride planned tomorrow 😀
