Only £25 tonight in their 1hr flash sale.

Any thoughts? I have absolutely no idea what makes a good balance bike ...

STW hive-brain let rip!

Chris

Ps what's the youngest you've started on a balance bike?

I'm buying a balance bike this week for my daughter. I love her enough for it not to be this one 😉

Maybe not such a bargain when you factor in postage and Decathlon do one for £30.

Buy a used Rothan. Heli tape it, then a year later sell it for the same price you bought if for.

At that price range I'd go for the Decathlon one. Got my son the Decathlon run ride shortly after his 2nd birthday, once he was tall enough to reach the ground he could pretty much ride it (although at first it was more walking with a bike between his legs). By 27 months or so he was pretty good. He's 4 and a bit now and still rides it to nursery some days (he can ride a pedal bike but is more confident on the balance bike on steep slopes).

Just bought my daughter an Islabikes Rothan for her 2nd birthday, it's small enough that she can sit on the seat and touch the ground, but she's not too keen on how wobbly it is. Hoping to get her going properly by the end of summer.

To be honest the Islabikes is nice and built like a "proper" bike, but not sure it's totally worth the money.

Solid advice as always. Don't think PX will be seeing my money today!

Thanks

New or used Rothan. Balance bikes take an absolute beating once the kids get up to speed, so I wouldn't trust a supermarket special. My 2 went through a Rothan and it saw lots of stacks, some at bonkers high speed. Also got ridden and crashed down steps, into trees etc. Kids have no fear nor sense. Anyway the Rothan survived very well with only had a handful of scratches when we came to sell it on.

I was once told to get the best / lightest one you could afford as you WILL end up carrying it home some days

FFS - it's not got Enduro written on it anywhere, nor does it have Boost hubs or a 15mm bolt thru.

The head angle's a bit steep on that p-x one, too.

Only bought one balance bike, this one;

http://first-bike.co.uk/product/firstbike-basic-light-blue/

Been through 5 kids (3 of ours and been loaned out), can leave it out in the rain as, light and easy to carry, can get a lowering kit for when they're smaller. I've even ridden it down some grass banks myself and it's still intact. Pure balance bike win.

Blimey, I think that's the first balance bike I've seen with a *front* brake. Bonkers. Mind you, it looks like the brake wouldn't do much, so you're probably safe.

"Was £74.99", lol.

I got a Specialized one for my kids, light and tough and did the job.

They take a hell of a lot of abuse, non of it intended, just kids dropping them and falling off them.

Ours has cosmetic scratches and thats it.

That reminds me, must did it out the shed and stick it in the classifieds
