We are going up to Northumberland next week and staying in Beadnell.
Mrs FD and myself are taking the bikes, and Jnr FD will be on my bike in his seat.
Are there any off road areas near by where we can ride, or is it really just a case of staying to the quiet country lanes?
Also is it legal to ride the coastal path from Beadnell to Low Newton by the Sea to have a cheeky pint or two in the evening?
Thanks
should be some of this you can do.
did that a few times when on holiday in Beadnell but not in last few yrs. I recall there being a few awkward fences which were too much for me to get over with trailgator for the wee guy. Dunno if legal or not - being Scottish these things are a mystery so I opt for polite ignorance if challenged 😆 The pub at Newton by the Sea is great - inhouse micro brewery !Also is it legal to ride the coastal path from Beadnell to Low Newton by the Sea to have a cheeky pint or two in the evening?
beautiful part of the world, mountain biking is inland in the cheviots and rothbury area, although I cant think they are exactly childseat friendly. Alnwick castle and Alnwick itself will be a good day out as would Holy Island and many years ago the quiet villages of Ford and Etal used to run a mtb bike race. Frankly Northumberland is Englands best kept secret. shhhhhhh. 😉
A lot depends how how far you want to ride and if you are prepared to do a little bit of road/driving. I can maybe sugest a route or two or places worth incorporating in a ride.
Sadly the Coastal paths and some beaches are actually National trust. However the only thing stopping you from riding them is guilt/angry Farmer or the occasional ranger.
Sitting outside the Ship with a crab sarnie and a pitcher of black sheep is one of life's greatest pleasures.
