Got a 7 days near Afan booked shortly, (Cottage is about an hour West of Port Talbot).

I have done a lot of the trails leading South out from the Afan forest park centre (the one to the South, near Port Talbot), Bike Park Wales, and some stuff North from Merthyr (up around Torpantau, Pen-y-Fan, Brecon)

Myself and the significant other will have road bikes and trail bikes on board, do people have any other recommendations for nice places to bimble? Can't be too extreme off-road, she is happy on the blues at BPW.

We will be doing one day at BPW while we are there anyway.

(Places to walk are also good, we won't be riding every day)

Thanks!

If you're an hour west of Port Talbot, Brechfa can't be far away

go to the Gower for coastal walking

If you have your road bike then you could climb up the Bwlch via the Afan valley.

There's a nice mtb loop around the Gower plus lots of walking and amazing beaches.

Vale of Glamorgan (where I grew up) is now a bit of a road riding Mecca, for locals at least.

Also drop into Ogmore, Monknash or Southerndown beaches.

Gower is nice for road cycling and some XC stuff.

If you don't mind driving a little way, Bluebells should be out, Dinas nature reserve (RSPB) is ace for a walk round. Also some nice riding around Llyn Brianne, part gravel part road taking in Soar y Mynydd chapel. And you can finish up at the Royal Oak in Rhandirmwyn.

Three cliffs bay for a day on the beach. There is a campsite where you can park get a coffee etc. But best to take a picnic as not much around.

Thanks for all the recommendations, had a stunning week with the weather as well! Much airtime was had (BPW, Afan, Brechfa and Preseli), as well as some stunning walking (St Davids, Ystradfellte (great call T1000), Gower and Pen Y Fan).

Came home almost sunburned, never known 7 days in wales like it!
