Afternoon all,
Looking to buy a Pivot Mach 5.7 (alloy) and wondering what size frame to go for (M or L).
I'm 6ft with a 32" inside leg.
Relating my height to the official Pivot size guide, I fall at the top end of the medium frame and at the bottom end of the large.
Anyone on here have any experiences with the aforementioned bike?
Currently, I'm thinking of a M with a 100mm stem?
What do you lot think? I've heard that Pivots come up quite big?
Cheers
I'm 6'0 (182 cm) and ride a Large 5.7.
Based on what the bike is I would never even think of Medium. I used to ride a Large Mach 5 - it was a tiny bit big. 5.7 comes up a wee bit smaller and is a good fit.
I had '10 Turner Spot in Large before this - it was a little smaller but still fine. To tell the truth if it were any smaller it could be uncomfortable.
For comparison: Giant Trance X in Large I used to ride is HUGE. Too big. Intense 5.5 in Large was fine. Chumba XCL in Medium - too small.
To sum it up I think you will be fine on a Large frame.
DISCLAIMER: I use the bike for trailriding. If you want to go more extreme then probably M would be an option too but you might as well look at other frames since 5.7 excels as a really fast and nice trailbike that will handle occasional bits of AM but is not a pure AM machine.
P.S. 100 mm stem on this bike is a no-go in my opinion. I use 70 mm stem and 760 mm bars.
large with a short stem for sure. Never ridden one, but it seems pretty obvious on a bike like that.
Large with short stem - I ride our large demo Pivot Mach 5.7 with the standard stem (100mm) and it's too long for most folk but okay for me (I'm 5'11" but do like long bikes).
Any opinions on how the ride of a 5.7 compares to a Hustler? Have read comments about the DW suspension action being a bit love/hate. How does it feel in action?
I'm 184cm (6' if my conversion is correct) riding large 5.7 with 70mm stem, no doubt this is the correct size.
Haven't ridden a Hustler but please do not think that all DW suspension bikes are the same... little changes to geometry have made it different feeling to eg. Mojo. It took me a while to get comfortable on this bike but I came from short travel HL suspension bike to to this and my initial setup was way off.
