I'm about to take a younger relative (10) on his first proper mtb ride in the surrey hills and I'm looking for some easy singletrack to ease him in i.e. berms, humps but no jumps or steep etc.

Thanks.

To be honest a lot of the 'usual' trails in the area don't have anything too nasty on them, (most jumps are rollable these days too).  Off the top of my head those without too much steep / rooty / jumpy (there may be a few more technical sections in the trails but the odd small drop (nothing more than a foot or so) or collection of roots is pretty unavoidable)

- Proper Bo (can go round the 'jump')

- Captain (top half is a nice flow trail, you can push back up before the steep bits)

- John the Baptist (few little rough corners / roots)

- Graveyard Rollercoaster

- Fork left / right

- Telegraph Row (few roots and little drops but pretty much a good fun fast straight-ish blast)

- Yoghurt Pots (probably the most 'flow' trail of the popular ones)

- BKB (worst bit is the bombhole near the top but most is pretty flowy)

- top of Supernova which follows the road (and to be honest you can be steady down the worst bits of the main part)

All these can be ridden with a bit of care and guidance from someone who knows the trails without any nasty surprises.
