Looking for a bit of advice here.
I already have a scion frame sitting for 2 years but after getting a bit fitter ive decided to get the miles in on the old trek over winter and hit the trails ready for the merida next year. ( never to old an all that )
Anyhoo should i build onto what i have and save the pennies
Or Do i go and buy a cotic frame that takes tapered steerer as the scion is a straight steerer and forks are getting scarce for it.
Normally id just do what i think is right but bikes geometry and parts are changing quickly . So any advice will be taken on board.
I really don't think straight steerer forks are that rare yet. Actually if you out some effort in there's probably some great bargains out there. I'd be tempted to ring round your local bikes stores and see what they have. Do up the pipedream (slightly bias as I have a 631 Sirius which is still my only bike).
Keep the really rather nice scion going now, buy up a fork ahead of when it is needed, and save the pennies. There are still lots of straight steerer forks around, you just might not have exact model or shade of colour choice.
