No experience of the fork but the frame looks interesting. There seems to be a raw look option which is always good imo!

If not the DVO fork what other options are about?

I'd get the pink personally, think it looks great. Yellow is a bit meh. Pink with black parts FTW.

Teal is always the correct answer.

You'd need to be a riding god or barbie to get away with a bike that pink, the Teal however is gorgeous, I'd like to see pics of the unpainted one as well.

I'd also be wanting to swing a leg over something with such extreme geometry, or more reviews at least. The 470mm reach is mental.

Hay coomber the frames aren’t actually available till early January.
I’ve got a pink on order with DVO forks to, wheels yet to sort out.
DVO forks though are pretty nice fork had a set when they first came out and they where on par with pikes which I also had at the time! The over the top function was great worked very well which was one of the reasons I went for them in the original offer with the extra hundred off so a pretty good deal

I will be using 29er rims,30mm internal width.I will be interested to hear what you think of the plus option .As I could always get a second set of wheels.

Luckily I’ve got a set of 29er pro4 hubs on stans flow3 rims in the shed so I can try both options if I fell like.
I’ve had fat bikes so I’m thinking it should be an ok option.
I’m gonna put 2.8 tyres on it like the main picture so it should be good.
I’m leaning towards the blueflow carbon options to try as they seem reasonably good value with hope hubs and by the time I’ve got rims and hope hubs built up on to dtswiss spokes it will really only be around £150/180more for a carbon rim option to try out and they get great reviews so we’ll see.

batman11 - I can recommend the Blue flow rims.I have been using a pair of their 35mm 27.5 carbon kevlar wheels for over 3.5 years with no problems at all.The finish on the rims comes up like new,& I have yet to see another set on any other bike.

I'll just add this to the list of bikes I'd like to buy off batman (but probably won't) when something else catches his eye after a few months. I like the pink but think I prefer the teal, could you change your order please Mr F?

Dave no sorry it’s staying pink lol.
Wheel wise I got a stupid deal on some Easton arc 45 rims so am going them and pro 4 hubs and we,ll see how the rims go.
Go by there not available till January so there’s only a couple about that are out to the magazines reviewing them so where all waiting with bated breath.

Why that is a very generous offer there dave I’d probably of just gone for the wristy so twelfty whole pounds extra is a right bonus

I will be building my Moxie as a 29er.However I have a pair of 27.5 wheels with 30 mm internal rims. What is the max tire size I can use? I was hoping to try 2.8.

Still a little torn between this and a P7 29er to build with 2.8 tyres , both frames are around the same price
Am I right in thinking the Moxie is designed around a 150/160 mm fork ?

Jfb yes mate it’s fully able to take 2.8 tyres as it’s set up for 650b plus think there the max though.
Think I’ll do the same to 29er first off as it’s muddy out and then go for the plus size later.

Thanks for the reply batman11.I realise the frame will take a 2.8 tires. What I need to to know is , are rims with 30 mm internal width, wide enough for 2.8 tires.Or are 2.6 the widest tire I can use?

I seem to remember 30mm will work with a 2.8 from some where pretty sure it was one of the reviews on the moxie.
Worth noting that in one of them the writer mentioned that he thought it rode better with 2.6 maxxis tyres than the 2.8 due to tyre fold or something like that

Thanks again for the reply batman11.I think you are correct.I think I will wait until I have tried the frame as a 29er before embarking on expensive 27.5+ wheels.

Took it to Whiteways this morning, couldn't be more pleased, rides amazing. Met batman, whose day didn't go so well. Bit common these Moxie. Anyone know how to upload photos. Help..

Any owners built and ridden theirs yet, If so what’s the verdict? I’d love to see a picture of one of the raw frames but can’t find images anywhere. I’d really like to build one of these, but would need to start selling body parts. So post up your pics and reviews 😀

Funk aster if I could actually figure anything out on what seems to be a backwards move of a web site I’d happily post some pics. Sadly my first ride ended up with me on my face! As I spent all my money on building the bike I didn’t have any left to put a new chain quick link in and it snapped its pin clean off! The bike was unharmed or marked phew lol.
Still lesson learned don’t reuse these quick links well more than twice maybe lol

Hope your Face is okay? I’m tempted to see if I can scrape enough together to get a frame and build one on the cheap over a year or so. You’re not alone in being unable to work the new forum

From just how it looks I’d say it’s goong to be what they say awesome. Have to say if you can! go for it, the finish is really good all the internal threads for screwing things in are clean and easy to use the rear wheel adjuster is good and robust looking, good sized bolts unlike a lot I’ve seen that have sliding drop outs and internal threads for cable guides (last fast forward flimsy drop outs paint in every thread! nice bike to ride though) mines getting a new 185 bike yoke dropper fited today and a generic invisiframe kit tomorrow fitted at my local shop and from a source I shall not mention the pricing is about to come down a smidge either today or tomorrow on there web site due to something going On where there made or some thing so well worth going for it then

Has anyone tried one with 27.5 wheels and normal tyres? They’d be 2.4” maxxis high rollers or similar but given they’re designed for plus tyres am wondering how it would work and what if the B.B. would be too low for use.

That's a huge BB drop to then stick 27.5x2.4 on, the bb drop will only get bigger once you account for 20-30% fork sag

<div class="content" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; width: auto; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">
<div id="post_message_13540114" class="nolinks" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">

After a long search for a 29 hardtail I built up a Pipedream Moxie. I had not heard of Pipedream until a few months ago and was originally looking at the NS Eccentric and the Chromag Rootdown. After driving myself slightly more crazy going over geometry I ordered a long Moxie Moxie Enduro Hardtail | 27.5/27.5+/29er Compatible . I just completed the 4th ride on it, and have given it a go on a few different types of trail. Enough that I have some solid first impressions.

I'm 5'9", older, but a pretty solid handler. No KOMs but top 3rd to 10% on a lot of segments. I am definitely a better descender than climber these days, but still hold my own going up. The Moxie is setup 29 with WT DHR/DHF tires, Fox 150mm 34 (10mm longer than the geometry chart), 30mm stem, and a 770mm bar. The bar is higher than the saddle, but is as low as it can go without my shifter hitting the top tube. I could angle it up more but I like my paddles pointed quite far down.

On the flats this bike pedals and handles very normally. The seat tube is steep but I have always favoured it that way. It's a hardtail so it accelerates quite well.

Tight and twisty. I thought that a bike this long would have one weakness here so I purposely hit up a couple of our more noodley trails. 180° turns while climbing or descending. Not normally my cup of tea, but still a bit of fun. I got through just as well as with my medium Knolly Endorphin, which is a lot shorter. I made all the corners, enjoyed it, and was surprised and impressed.

Climbing. The front end stays down easily and does not wander. I don't have to get on the nose as much as I'm used to. The frame is about 6 pounds so it's not ever going to be a weight weanie wonder.

Descending is about what I was expecting, which is great. Slack HTA, short stem, wide bars, and Minions = ripping. No surprises here. The frame seems pretty forgiving, and on quite a few sections I'm not missing the rear suspension.

Cornering. If this bike has a strong suit, it is cornering. I have never been on a 29er before so there is a bit of wheel size influencing this. I have lots of experience with these tires in 650b though. First I tried to keep my position neutral and not get my weight to far back. That said, this is the best cornering bike I've ever been on. Bear in mind today was only the 4th time out on the Moxie, but I was railing the corners from the get go. I kept up with a better rider quite easily, and I was no where near the bike's limits.

Early days, but an impressive frame from a smaller UK maker. For me this forward, or modern geometry just does not have any drawbacks. Well, I haven't tried to put it on my Kuat rack yet, and I think it may be a bit long for it.

My thread at MTBR.   http://forums.mtbr.com/29er-bikes/pipedream-moxie-1068714.html

I live on Vancouver Island in a town with a huge varied trail network.  Very happy I chose the Moxie

Hi Legbacon , I see you are Travis Bickle in another life (MTBR).Just wanted to say thanks for all your thoughts & contributions on the Knolly thread.I found them very helpful. Regarding the Moxie.Where is every one setting the rear wheel axle.I am still building mine.Coming from a 2Souls QH I was thinking short as possible. Also does any one any thing about the USE dropper post.

I have been mostly riding with 27.5+ Specialized 2.8 Butchers on 40mm rims.  My other bike is a Knolly Endorphin that needs new bearings, and I have been in no rush to get that done. I'm not sure a hardtail can be better than this, lighter sure, but the handling and compliance are top notch.  The BB is pretty low and I have 175 cranks from a previous build so I have to be careful not to pedal smash, but this is only an issue in a few spots.  If I was buying new parts I would shorten the cranks.  I've got both 29 and 27.5+ wheels and prefer the plus.  Smoother, just as fast IME, and lower, which I like.  I have been getting PRs  and keeping up with my mates FS bikes.  There are a few rougher descents where it beats my legs and is slower because sometimes there is no substitute for FS.  That said I could not be more satisfied with my Moxie.

What wheel size is everyone running?

Anyone tried both for comparison?

I'm so close to hitting the buy button. Can't decide on wheels or forks though.

I prefer 27.5+ when the trails are chunky.  29 will raise the BB if that is important to you and may be faster on smooth sections.

I've never ridden a plus bike, and the idea of all that undamped tyre squirming about doesn't sound too appealing.

I probably need to get a test ride before I sign any cheques.
