I'm still perusing the idea of a 29er - heart (and soul and BFe ownership say solaris)

So what about Pipedream frames - i don't see much written here about them. SIngular seem to be frame of the moment - but seem expensive for the tubing they use.

The pipedream is 853 - so what is their reputation?
Any one own one?
Cheers
MM

I've had a Scion and it was very nice. The frames are badly let down by the company in my experience though.

How were you let down Ivan?

I bought one of their Sirius's in 631 a few years back and it arrived quickly and I've had nil issues with it. He can be a bit slow on replying to emails but I don't see that as a huge problem.

[Pipedream rantette]

Personally I've found them to be very difficult to contact and have often received no response to emails which were basically "I want to buy...". They've only once answered their phone despite ringing them at least 2 dozen times over the last couple of years and they owe me money for postage on a returned pair of forks which were very badly rusted when delivered - the refund was promised but never delivered.

However the frames are very nice and this is what irritates me more to an extent - they make really nicely finished frames out of decent materials which are generally really well reviewed and competitively priced and they aren't afraid to push the boat out with things like 931.

The only downside is that they don't appear to be that arsed about selling them, very poor communication and no engagement with any forums etc even after they've been reviewed. When you think of their rival brands such as on-one, dialled, cotic and singular they're all got some input on here and elsewhere whether that be pimping out their latest design or answering specific technical questions or both.

It's like they gone "frames? - check, website? - check, customer service? - don't need that, marketing? - eh?"

I'm pretty sure this doesn't have a brilliant effect on their sales or the 2nd hand value of their frames - you're simply buying a collection of pipes and not into a brand or anything.

Thanks for that - I do like after care service being there when needed. And Cy and Paul have always provided it ...
So the Solaris probably is worth the extra money ....

My Scion 853 has been great but as far as customer service goes I'm inclined to agree, to some extent, with IvanDobski.

*A large, sky blue, Scion frame will be, shortly, on a classified web page near you*

The ti 29er looks great, unfortunately the geometry doesn't suit me as I was interested.
