Been looking at all these great bikes and pics of them - got me going. I'm off down Evans tomo to get one. Crickey, what a lot of bike for the £.
Just been on my 4 (basically now spec'd as a 5) round Cannock today. Absolutely flew around. A total riot!
These bikes are the best kept secret going as far as HTs go!

Finally! Although now it's covered in mud...
Out today, the front chain retaining device got covered in mud. Can I just bung one of these on the crank and remove the device without doing or buying anything else? Thanks for any replies.

^ yup, it'll not be as reliable as with a clutch mech also but a good NW ring (they vary) will keep the chain on in most cases - consider removing a chain link or 2 if possible as the tighter mech tension will reduce bounce.

Good idea with the narrow/wide. Did you remove the arm that extends out of the bottom bracket that the chain device is bolted too as well? Easy?

I just got the ring, which I have not fitted yet. Looking at the current setup, the crank will have to come off to remove it - at least that's what I think. Also, as the bracket (chain device)holds the crank out a bit, I assume will need to put on some BB spacers in place, so as to have same chain position. Ho hum...
I thought that arm part might be more hassle to remove than it's worth. Maybe a job for the dremel while the chainring is off, if the narrow/wide works ok - and next time the bottom bracket is out take it out completely and replace with a spacer.

I see the extra bottle bosses etc on the fork , is this the EBB version? ... I like the colour as well 🙂 .. rough prices yet ?

Clink, 29+ probably would fit, it's a 470mm fork. Not tried it though. You could use the EBB dropped down to offset some of the geometry change.
Stumpy, yes it's a split/clamp shell EBB. Shorten the rear end or position it up for B+, down for 29". Or SS it.
Wheels are QR non-boost for swapability with older stuff you may have and they're convertable to 12mm + 15mm thru if needed. £800 RRP, possibly less, TBC.

Thanks to this thread I'm seriously considering this bike to replace my 12 year old hard-tail commuter. It only has to cope with a (sometimes) muddy disused railway line on the way into work so no suspension needed and the simplicity and quality of the Ramin appeals.
2 questions come to mind:
Am I late to the 29er party, ie as more manufacturers seem to be concentrating on 650b bikes are parts for 29ers going to dry up - I'm hoping the answer is no as the larger wheel size seems ideal for my use.
Does anyone know if there is much difference between the 2015 and 2016 models? The 2015 is currently available at £400 but I was wondering if its worth waiting for the 2016 model and seeing if there is a sale mid-year which brings it down to the same price (wishful thinking?) - colour isn't a major factor for me so thats not a consideration, just spec and value.

29ers have been adopted by the majority of manufacturers and pushed in lots of applications. The majority still offer a long travel 29er variant where supposedly 650b would 'excel'. I can only think of Giant that scrapped 29er.
The 650b segment has replaced the 26'' bikes and a few 29ers. The 29er size is stand out and adopted mainly by the commuters, leisure cyclists and XC, trail riders, as well as the giants.
29ers are here to stay. You won't have any issues sourcing parts for them for the foreseeable future.
For what it's worth, I own 3 29ers and love them. I think i'll only go 650b for long travel or park/pump track bikes.

I've been looking at getting my 26" frame converted for discs, it's v-brake at the moment but by the time I pay for that to be done, get it repainted and buy a rear brake this starts to look a better option, just a wheel build to factor in.
And of course I'm then left with a bike to convert to single speed as well despite never having had the need or desire for one 🙂
Does anyone have any info on the 2016 Ramin One? Just trying to figure out if I should jump in now and get the 2015 model ordered or if there will be any worthwhile difference on this years model? Think I've made my mind up its the bike I want, just curious as to any updates 🙂
Ramin 1 2016 ETA May, basically the same bike spec-wise, with widened F+F clearances for B+.

The 3 has an EBB so they are not the same frame. No geometry chart showing at the moment for the 3 so can't really tell if the EBB is the only difference.

I'm in the process of selling my Anthem and looking at going back to a simpler hardtail especially 29er hardtails.
In the last week ive considered second hand On one Scandals,the Boardman Pro 29er and the Voodoo Bizango, which seems particulary good value.
However the 2015 Pinnacle one really appeals at the £400 sale price as its the same money as the Genesis High Latitude frame only which I also considered and gives a good base for upgrades.
Is the rigid fork a straight steerer,and will it take a tapered steerer fork?
Looking at the higher spec models they seem to be taper but I'm wondering if the headtube is the same on the one as higher models? Also is the One dropped compatible eg 31.6? Just trying to work out how future proof the frame is......
JGG - the frame's a 31.6mm seat tube with a custom spec shim to take a 27.2mm post. Take post and shim out and fit a dropper, the cable guides under the TT can be swapped for guides that can carry additional cables.
The fork is a straight steerer but the head tube is 44mm ID so the external lower cup headset used on the Ramin 4-5-6 will fit with a tapered sus fork, 100mm ideally but 120mm won't mess it up. Stock rigid fork is 470mm.

I've had a Ramin 4 for a couple of years and it's a great bike. Its unbelievably capable; I've fitted a 120mm Reba, and it's similar spec to the 5.
I was so close to getting the Iroko this year which looks a riot. Funds preclude that for now....

Sorry to dig this one up again, wasn't able to get the Ramin One a month ago due to the time taken to get the cyclescheme voucher through - it's now here and now I wonder if its worth hanging on to see if there will be any further discount on the 2015 model as the 2016 is only 3 weeks away. Anyone with any insider information or previous experience with Evans, do they discount more at the end of model lifecycle? I suppose the only other risk is that they take the 2015 model off the system entirely (although not sure what they would do with current stock level which has stayed pretty stable in the last 6 weeks).
I highly doubt it would be discounted further, I wouldn't have thought they would have a problem shifting them at £400. I think it's more likely that they sell out of the size you're after in the 2015 model. If you really want the 2015 specifically then i'd jump on it.
I haven't found any references about drop bar setups on the Ramin One in the internet yet, so I thought you might be interested in seeing my 2014 with Salsa Woodchipper bar.
This is still a work in progress with temporary stem and bar tape, and handlebar and brake levers position.

Bumpity bump. I built up a rigid frameset from spares, and while it's great fun to ride I've still hung onto my old 26" hardtail for trail centres.
Now thinking about doing a tactical n-1 as for the price of a fork, headset cup and nicer wheels for the Ramin, it seems I could have a very capable bike that ticks a lot of boxes: tapered, 15mm, tubeless, dropper compatible. The future is here!
Anyone using a Ramin as their main-ish bike? Anything better than a 120mm X-Fusion Slide for <£300?
I did for a couple of years. It's a spare HT now. Was great. Only issue was the QR back end for some reason would mean that tyre clearance on the NDS chainstay was minimal. I think a bolt thru would hold it all in place better. It has seen an unbelievable amount of abuse and has always been fun to ride too.

Had a good 12 days in Nepal recently on my Ramin 3+ with 29" wheels on. So sort of a Ramin 1 then. This is in the Langtang area. Much carrying / a bit of great riding.

dukedvet - Thanks, the colour was a one-off but might make it into next year's range somewhere. Look up frames on the Evans site and filter by Pinnacle, spare warranty stock gets sold off there. Some more due up about now if not already online. Pretty sure there's some 2016 Ramins in there.

I don't believe there's any difference, although only the 2 from 2016 is showing now. Depends if you want/need an EBB as to whether the 3+ is worth it. If you don't then go with the nice blue 2.

Rickos is correct, same frame / different colour. All of them take B+ tyres, the only difference with the 3Plus frame is being able to SS it or adjust BB height.

I've got my hands on a Ramin frame (no forks) and hoping to turn it into a cheap MTB/Bikepacking bike.
Two things I'm considering:
Fork - Rigid and probably a Salsa Firestarter steel fork. This looks to be £120 ish. I am open to a suspension fork but don't think I'd get anything decent for the same price as a decent rigid fork
Gearing - Probably 2 x10 Shimano SLX, but might go 1x11 for simplicity. The 2x10 would offer much more range though and probably be better value for money

Seems a lot to spend on a rigid fork to pair with a cheap (albeit nice) frame. Ask on the classified for a used rigid fork? I’ve an od Swift fork I could probably be tempted to part with, if it’s any interest.
Also, I’d make sure you can get a plus tyre in the front (which rules out my Swift fork ). I favour 29+ but even 27.5+ is good on a rigid bike.
As for gearing, I’d go 2x personally. I still run 3x9 on my bikepacking bike and I’m not planning to change any time soon. There’s everything from road to vertical bog on the rides I do and lots of gears works for me.

A decent rigid fork is better than a cheap suspension fork though. In my head it's not that disproportionate and the frame is new too.

I think Reba would be the suspension fork to go for. £125 new or second hand from eBay though? Not sure if taking on second hand forks actually works out that much cheaper in the long term if you factor in servicing.

483mm which is 29er 100mm suspension corrected equivalent.
Does anyone know if the Rain 3 plus frame will take a 120mm fork, or is it 100mm max?
