I need to order either a set of new bearings or, if not too expensive , a new headset for my bros bike but it's 50 miles away and I forget the details . I've googled and although I have some idea of the type/size , I'm not certain so wondered if anyone could advise? The current headset has little info except FSA ZS3 but Google comes up with several different models . Also I can't remember if the fork has a straight or tapered steerer . If anyone can help with the info I require it would be much appreciated

Straight steerer with 44mm ID head tube so any Zero Stack headset for 1 1/8" steerer will fit
eg FSA no11 here - https://www.fullspeedahead.com/en/support/library/documentation?category=139 - can download pdf diagram for bearing spec
but I can't remember if it had semi-cartridge or full sealed bearings now
Thanks Jameso... May I just query whether the bottom of the headtube definitely has 44mm ID as it appears flared and wider at the bottom .. at least externally ( tapered headtube? ) I'm not up to date on headtubes / headsets as most off my bikes have been steel with standard external cups etc.
it appears flared and wider at the bottom
That's just external wall thickness taper, a visual trick to help it work with an external ZX44 lower cup if a tapered sus fork was fitted. It's defo 44mm ID top and bottom. Kept it simple.
excellent .. thanks for explaining and clarifying .. much appreciated..
NP...
Oops sorry, XX44 external lower cup, not ZX44. There is no ZX44.
Good man .. many wouldn't have bothered to correct themselves and I'd have probably got confused at some stage ! An extra question .. silly and unrelated but if you see this @Jameso do you simply use the "notify me of any replies" forum function to get a heads up that someone has replied .. or is there another way ? I don't use the forum like I used to and encounter all sorts of weird issues but have noticed that normally ..if I reply to another user 's post on one of my threads ..they tend to reply/ address it fairly quickly. I have only used the "notify" function once ..on one thread , and got somewhat overwhelmed with messages so how people manage lots of threads efficiently confuses my tired old brain ! Am I missing something or just being quite old and non techy /( + a bit dim! perhaps! ) Do people keep checking their messages ?. If you have a simple answer and the inclination/time please educate me and once again thanks a lot for the headset specifications...it was very helpful . All the best, Bill in Exeter
Hi Bill, I just see whatever threads are on the front page. I used to work on the Pinnacle bikes so thought I might have an answer here. I don't sign up to notifications, no - but if I've posted on a thread I'll tend to follow it while it's on the front page, for a while anyway. Cheers, James
