Little Mat-ette has her heart set on some pink pedals (I'd bought myself a pair of pink DMR V6's for a bike) for her first pedal bike, probably a Cnoc 14. Can anyone recommend anything for a bike that small that I can get in pink? I can find a few but wasn't sure what the quality would be like.
[guardian] We've tried not to push any gendered colour associations on her but some how she's turned into a little pink fiend! [/guardian]
I'm not sure what thread they have on the cranks of a Cnoc 14 but a lot of kids bikes that size have a 1/2" pedal thread. You'll have to get BMX pedals if you want quality.
Again not sure of thread size on her bike, but these are a pretty standard bmx pedal, pink, and made of plastic so less likely to tear her shins or calf's to pieces when she slips a pedal (which if going by my sprogs she absolutely WILL do).
Thanks Luke/Ali with it being such a small bike I'm reckoning I need to buy something with a smaller cage on it too so its not likely to catch on the ground + her feet are tiny! Not actually got the bike yet so I can't measure the existing pedals.
Worried about quality on a 14" kid's bike? You're overthinking it. Just get the pink ones.
If a genuinely small cage is what you need then Decathlon do some pink kid's size pedals in 9/16", you'll not get ceramic coated bearings in them or anything but they'll do til she goes up to the next size. Finding 1/2" ones from anywhere reputable was always hard work when I worked in a bike shop - all the girl's ones came with coloured pedals that'd get wrecked, and Raleigh didn't sell pink replacements. Amazon and ebay have 1/2" thread kid's pedals in pink and I think that's as appropriate a thing as you'll get.
