I've bought a lappy zesty frame from pink bike and think.think I've been done over.
Bought the frame with a small dent in the seat tube. No problem I thought. Just been really looking at the frame. Took the stickers off the downtube and there is what appears to be pin holes in the down tube. Ive been repairing cars for 15 years and it looks very much like a big dent in the downtube has been filled with body filler. You can see slightly two high spots where the dent has pushed out. I paid 200 quid for the frame by pay pal. Not gift. Where do you think I stand? Wee in his shoes? Kick in the slats?

As above claim via PayPal.

Agree with toys19 about buying painted frames but from the flip side. I had my five spot coated and when I came to sell it I had loads of people asking g why I had painted it and was there any damage etc

He looks like a genuine seller - nothing sold since 2013 so his claims may be accurate.

He's stated that the previous owner respected the bike so it may be an honest mistake

Depends whether you really want the frame or if it's too much of a risk, but PayPal claim is always an option. Contact him once you figure out what you want to do

EDIT: resprayed...not respected!!

I don't want the frame anymore. It's hard to tell the size of the dent but it's over 4 inches long at a guess. Wouldn't feel safe on it

I can understand that. As tmb467 says it might not be the sellers fault, but that is hardly your problem.
I think it is a "not as described " claim, so you will have to send it back before you get your dosh.

Just had this in reply from him. Think its a genuine seller who's bought the frame like that

No I got it second hand in the summer of 2013 and never got a chance to build it up. What does it look like? I never noticed anything, the previous owner said all was sound other than the clear dent on the seat tube that won't actually affect anything

Not relevant to main problem but If the "dent in the seat tube" is the big one at the bottom on the drive side, then that is meant to be there for front mech clearance.

I sold a 09 3yr old Enduro frame for 150£ with a big downtube (side) dent. My one proviso was the frame shouldnt be filled and repainted but who knows if the buyer would be tempted? IMO if you have the before pics then your fine. My Butcher was powdercoated by me as it was that goping brown colour.

Could you get a wee inspection camera for drains and fit it into the downtube via the headtube? Some frames have a hole in the headtube that allows access to the headtube and top tube.
