Hi All,

I love pimped bikes, me. I try my best on all my bikes so below you'll find what I find beautiful. If you're into pimping it up then show me yours please!

I find the best look is Hope all over, bit Brit you see!

IMAG0140 by robsoctane, on Flickr]

The only recent not shown change is Highrollers instead. I couldn't keep the red stripes. Plus of course HR's are a hugely better tyre for gnarr shredding. 😉

I de-pimped my Kona paddy wagon. Lost the yellow wheels, added some striped tyres, a nice Carbon post and Flite Ti saddle. Does that count? And yes, gash. Sorry, you either keep the tyres red or you're not really pimping.

same, i've been toning down my recent builds. not sure if i'm getting old but riding that around feels embarrassing, doubly so when you crash it, 3x if you then get it nicked.

i've just realised that's a Trek. ok you have pimped that trek 😀 why are the grips so clean?

If you're touting for compliments you could do with a better picture. Not that it'd help 😉

I'm a bit of a tart tbh, I like things that look nice as well as working well, so there's a fair bit of work goes into colour coordination etc. And without really thinking about it it seems like I've developed a favourite look...

I do like everything to coordinate, but it is easy to go too far.

I've always gone for silver/ti with red and black, but since the arrival of two orange coloured frames in my life the coordination has been messed right up. I'm a tart, but not enough of one to replace all my hubs with ones in a less clashing colour. Now my road bike, that's a diferent story...

I'd have to agree, what you have there is an off-the-shelf bike, fitted with a load of off-the-shelf components and an attempt at colour coordinating.

Where's the custom bits?
hand made/modified parts?
re-finished/custom colours?
the polishing?
the evidence of actual work at creating something unique rather than a shopping spree in a Hope catalogue?

But if you like it then that's what matters, and there is nothing wrong with what you have done and I think it looks quite good, it's just not 'Pimp'

It's the little things - coloured brake/shifter/bottle cage bolts, personalised top caps (which you can't see in the pic) that add to the pimpness I think... Colour co-ordination is SO important!

I won't even start on the presentation. Wrong gear, cranks at wrong angle, weeds in the lawn

What's wrong with the bottle cage then? Issues with presentation accepted, must do better. Pleased I got into this...

Almost matching forks, cranks, bars, seatpost and frame is about as far as I've gone 😆

[IMG] [/IMG]

tbh it does look quite pimp when it's clean and the frame's just been polished with brasso.. so shiny!

Sorry OP, but the renthal bars and crud catcher ruin it for me, and Black hoses would be better.

If your bikes too bling you've got to back it up on the trail otherwise you look like a knob! Better to go stealth if you ask me, then you know you're shredding if people notice you.

Shouldn't be there at all. There's something that looks just wrong about FS frames like that one with a bottle on them. My Dune has mounts for one but I view them as being the bicycle equivalent of nipples on men; useless.

Another red build - more restrained in the overall colour mix (if you discount the red anodized frame!)

I pimped the road bike with white tyres and a new matching saddle. Titanium matches anything. And manages to look pretty tasteful. Forks are likely to be replaced, so I haven't cut them down.

[img] [/img]

De-pimped Paddy Wagon looks a little more understated than the previous (hideous) yellow wheels it came with:

And if pimped = brought up to date, here's my son's retro Marin

must take you to task - where to put the bottle without a cage? I race that bike, and often off-road commute on it, so no bladder bag for me... It is a pimp funny shaped Spesh cage after all!

I would however agree re mens nipples - I'm currently suffering severe runners nipple, having run 10 miles in the pissing rain 😥

backtothetop, you'll also find that moving the saddle forwards helps bring in the calves, hamstrings and glutes into play more, meaning you'll be more powerful through your pedal stroke.

There's a reason why roadies run their seats as far forwards on the TT and track bikes...

I do believe that's in full razz home on the road after the trails mode. I'm a lanky git at 6' 3", so in order to stop my legs exploding, the saddle goes up.

For trail riding, it's a little lower, and the medium suits my riding style.

Hey, 4th on the Leigh Woods Swoop can't be bad for someone supposedly riding the wrong bike at that time...

Well thegeneralist, funny you should say that...

Having learnt how claiming for a bike works, I take a LOT of pics of my bikes.

Plus, I'm rather proud of them. As they're mine, and I can't take shots of me riding it. Cos, you know, I'm riding it at the time.

yay another EG. i think maybe all EG are pimp no matter what you put on them 😀 black is good, mine is so bright some days i have to wear sunnies just to get on it.

so i'm lost, what does make a bike pimp? is it like bling? is it something luxurious? can a Charge Spoon be pimpin' when we all have it? is a gold chain vital? must it be something you added yourself? does anyone make a leopard skin saddle?

With the greatest of respect, Janesy, who are you to comment on someone you haven't met and their bike setup being wrong?

I can ride my bike rather swifty and do things such as the Mega four times without dieing, so I think my choice of bike sizing is a personal thing.

Rather a daft comment if you haven't met the person.

Kingkingsfinger, I did a very similar wheel build but using white hubs and rims (from a EX1750 wheel set) - the spokes I used were cheaply Chinese jobbies, what did you use?

Ps, very much liking your Trek...

Apparently it's the form here to point out some form of inadequacy in bike sizing, so here goes.

Think your cranks are a bit long for your legs.

Surely pimpin a ride requires nothing more than upgrading to non standard parts? If it's shiny then all the better. Gold is cool IMO and those wheels on the Trek Top Fuel are pimpin as...

Tension no problem, raced on them maybe 6 times with no problems at all. I am right on the rider weight limit as well, in fact 2kg over at 77kg.

Along side this, I have very little mechanical sympathy when racing.
