I have a pr of 29 Pikes rct3 that are 140mm travel. They are unused and for a project i didnt get to resolve.

Can i increase the travel? If so what do i need?

Thanks

Ian

A new air shaft. Buy the newer DebonAir version for around £40.

Oh, whip the lower off as per a lower leg service & once your in you swap out the air shaft from the sprung leg. You'll need some specific grease & lower leg oil.

With the added bonus the Debonair air shaft noticeably improves performance.

I think 140mm might be the limit for 29er, 29 140mm uses the same air shaft as 27.5 160mm.

(I'd like to be proven wrong here as I'd like to extend my own Pike)

I've just extended my 140mm 29'er pike to 160mm with a debonair air shaft from tf tuned. Also needed some grease and oil.

Took 20 min as I've done it before and bought all the correct tools.

What year is that Pike, Martin? Newer ones can go to 160, but dont think the older one can

just done a reba from 100 to 120
best place to check is the uppers, if there are gradients on there for the travel you want then its possible, my rebas had the 120 partially obscured
So.. i grabbed a 120mm air shaft, and i grabbed the debonair seal/guid thingy and a rockshox service kit from ebay, for the oil and grease and crush washers, was cheaper than trying to buy seperate
consider doing the main upper seals while you are there if necessary
it is as simple as letting the air out
pop the 2 screws at the bottom of the legs, wind them back in and tap them to break the inners free
empty the oil, pull the lowers off
release the circlip (you will want internal circlip pliers, just do it)
pull air dhaft
clean
grease the new parts
refit
before you put the screws back in the bottom ,add the required oil, (check rockshox service manual)
