I'm thinking of changing the spring in my Pike for a slightly softer one but I want to be 100% sure about what's in it now. The spring has a black plastic tape near the top and I think this means it's extra firm. Does anyone know if that's right? I'm just over 12 stone and although I like quite a firm fork this feels a bit too firm. I'm not really getting much sag and haven't bottomed it out yet. Maybe I should go for a firm spring which I think is blue?

yeah, black should be x-firm. I'd swap you it for a standard medium spring, got a couple so could send you it first to see how you get on with it.

got an Email address?

Ok thanks for the offer. I think I should try it out a bit more first and then I'll get back to you. I've not tested it on any really steep technical stuff yet. Cheers.

Don't all the pike springs have black tape on them?

😀 I think there's a bit of black paint on the spring itself near the top but it's not very obvious. You would think they would be more clearly labelled.
