Hi all,

Have a Pike RCT3 Debonair on my 2018 Vitus Escarpe that's well overdue a service (I've not serviced them since getting the bike).

Will just a lowers service be OK, keeping the same foam rings and seals? Or should I replace both of those to be safe? Or should I service the air spring too? Doesn't look too tricky.

Damper service looks a bit of a faff - how important is this? Is there any point in taking the air spring to bits if I don't do the damper too?

Thanks,
Duane.

Full service, they are meant to get lower services multiple times through a year if your using them on a regular basis, so they've been neglected!

You could try lowers off / change foam rings and seals (I imagine the rings will be really dirty) and reassemble and it’ll be better than nothing. Ideally change all the seals in the airspring as well. You probably should do the charger too - but that’s sealed and inside a stanchion and requires a bleed I believe so probably a bit more faff.

Lower service is a genuine 10.min job once you get the hang of it, I do mine 4 or 5 times a year since finding a faint score due to grit!

Air spring is again easy, but the circlip is the work of the devil, although if you have debonair already yours should be easy.
