I have a 2015 Pike RCT3 Dual Position 160/130 26" Fork and it's not using all the travel, even when cycling it through with no air pressure in.
I've done a lower leg service, burped the lower legs with a zip tie and still the top 30mm of travel isn't being used

Could the charger damper need a bleed or could it be something else?
I bought the fork 2nd hand with a bike and don't know the extent of it's servicing history.
It feels smooth enough especially with the new seals i put on

even when cycling it through with no air pressure in.

Do you mean you’ve dropped the pressure to zero and compressed it, or that you’ve taken the top cap off and compressed it? The former will still have a pressure build up as you compress the fork

So is it giving 100mm travel when in 130mm mode, or is there just 30mm too much stanchion?

That's a very good question! I'll measure it when i get home. If it was only giving 130/100 is there a fix to get back the full travel? Could it have been installed incorrectly?

Mines done this a few times. Its where lowers oil migrates into the damper and the bladder expands and contacts the stanchion wall before. reaching full travel.

Needs a damper bleed as a short term fix, or replacement of the seal damper shaft seal head.

I think enigmas has it. Test rode tonight and it feels really nice on small bumps, but gets harsher on big hits which aligns the explanation above.
Will look to bleed the damper as a starting point and then do a full service later
Thanks for the input folks

Yep Enigmas had it on the nose. Got time to bleed the damper last night and now have full travel and proper damping. Test ride tonight

Did full bleed and changed the oil out as it was filthy. Will aim to do a full service and replace the seal-head soon

Been quite interesting learning how forks work and how to service them.
