150 Solo Air Pike was sticking down so I followed the advice to strip the air spring and clean the groove out that balances the positive and negative springs. Took out about half a pound of what looked like Vaseline? Cleaned everything up and re lubed less extravagantly.

Fork is still sitting down in its travel but when I pick up the front end with the wheel in it drops out to full travel with a thunk. If I turn the bike upside down I can move the lowers up and down about 5 mm with no resistance from the air spring. Any ideas what I have done?
