I've got a big trip coming up so pulled the lowers off my Pikes (2019 RCT3) to do a quick clean & relube.  The odd thing is that when I put them back together they need way more pressure than I used before - previously at 65psi but if I put that in I'm now at about 40% sag, and need 100+ to get even close to 30%.

I wondered if it was the -ve spring sucking down but have pulled them to max extension and there's no change.  I'll probably just drop the lowers again tonight and maybe give the air spring the once over too, but that gives you lot plenty of time to suggest alternative remedies.

How much do you weigh? I'm 90kg and run around 110psi in my 140mm pikes

Could of had air trapped in the lowers.

I'm about 65kg and the lower pressure that I used before was (surprisingly for RS) bang on the reccomendations on the fork.  That was from new so don't think there was any issue with air in the lowers,

Did you balance the negative air spring by cycling the fork up and down whilst adding air presssure?

Maybe now they are clean they need more pressure to work correctly for your weight?

Yep, have done it since too.

They were new out of the box, so no problem there.

I'll stick a different shock pump on it in case the one I've used is reading way out, but think it was the same one I used before so should be consistent?

This happened to my Rockshox shock, but it returned to normal after a ride. A bit of bouncing wasn't enough.

Well the air shaft piston was absolutely caked in grease as was the inside of the shaft, so I think that was affecting the equalisation of the -ve chamber. Cleaned it up and regreased a little less lavishly and it seems better. Will ride it tomorrow and see how it goes.
