nope - not the fish, the black boingy things....

basically, what's the difference between pre 2018, 2018, and 2019 models

I read stuff about Debonair and Charger dampers, but get a bit confused. I think Debonair air spring came in in 2018 then the Charger damper in 2019 - do they make a difference? Will I notice?

thanks!

Charger damper has been around ages - but there was a charger 2 damper released in the last few years. Meant to be better, although tf tuned think the first version was better made from a conversation I had with them.

The debonair word has been bandied around for a while - but the real difference is in the 2019 fork. The airshaft has been changed so there’s a much bigger negative spring - so the fork is more willing to get moving on small bumps and should then have more mid range support.

Or buy an older one in any travel for £££ less and switch to the new spring in the desired travel for around £40- its a simple DIY change

I upgraded My 2017 Lyriks with 2019 air spring and charger 2 damper due mainly to not wanting Boost.

I did them both incrementally and they both had a positive effect

The air spring made the forks feel plusher and more supportive as well as getting rid of the slight top out clunk I was having.

The damper is a fair chunk lighter and has far less springiness in the bladder due to its initial concave shape. That means it works entirely as a damper and not at all as a spring...which is what you want. I also opted for the version with high and low speed damping adjustments.

Also the dials are nicer and have more usable settings.

Small benefits but significant improvement overall.

Interesting, I just picked up a 2018 Lyrik (with Charger 2 damper) and am adding the 2019 air spring.

How do you run the HS compression? That's the only adjustment I'll be lacking really.

Now anyone wanna buy a non-boost 29er Lyrik?

How do you run the HS compression?

Its either 1 or 2 clicks from open (5 in total). I think the None adjustable forks are pre-set to 3 clicks. So the advantage for me is actually to run less compression damping than normal (as I like a plush fork and not a heavy weight)

Yeah I also prefer less HS if I have the option, I'm not a smasher and being more comfy helps me go faster - but the pre-set level with a luftkappe is good enough for me TBH.

Good to hear feedback on it though.
