Soooooo the bottomless tokens aren't fitted to the dual air Pike.....bugger! Wish I'd known this, at least it explains why I didn't get any tokens....aaaaaanyway 😳

I have read of a little outfit in the US, mAVERICK SUSpension that are selling modified tokens for $50 plus shipping. These apparently work for the dual air.

Does anyone have an idea what the modification would be? I'm considering trying it myself rather than ship from the US.

I found it on a thread on an american forum. I don't have the link, some guy Ethan at Maverick Suspension. Could be a thirteen year old operating from his bedroom. if you google you'll probably find it. This guy reckons he runs 2 tokens on his dual air.
I got the impression that he drills a hole in the tokens to clear the dual air gubbins. But other threads I've read seems to suggest that you couldn't thread the token into a dual air.

I haven't taken a look in the fork yet myself. Thought I'd ask here first.

If that's ex-Maverick employee Ethan who setup to support Maverick forks/bikes after they shut up shop then he likely knows what he's talking about with regards fork internals.

He does sound like he knows his stuff tbh

From his email to me it sounds like they simply drill a hole in a token so it clears the dual air shaft. I've ordered some tokens and will give it a go. I'll report back my findings.

I found the link

Not going to be that simple, you need to actually hold them in place somehow, don't have a DPA air system at the workshop atm, to have a closer look but shouldn't be too much of a job to machine something up to fit.
Saying that the 29er DPA pikes I had seemed to work ok in standard spec.

I find the fork dives really badly off drops if you land anywhere near front heavy. To compensate I've added more air but then that has drawbacks.

Ethan modifies a standard token to fit. Quite what he does to it I'm not certain. Do you think the token couldn't thread into the top cap on a dual air?

Ethan has a good rep amongst those of us still running Mavericks 🙂

Not sure that the da topcap actually has any threads tbh, the top cap has adjuster gubbins and shaft attached to the bottom of it so would need fiddling with to fit something.
At $50 it would suggest it's a bit more involved than just driolling and screwing a token onto the top cap

JE James have just informed me that the tokens I ordered aren't really in stock after all........ and I can't see anyone else selling them. So that might be the end of that. I wish I had bought the solo air pike.

Not saying it's not possible, just need a set to play with (we've got token kits in stock too)

Cheers Loco, I've just ordered a set from you, £3 cheaper than JE James. I'll see if I can figure out a way to get one attached.

looking at the internals of the DPA, it looks like the air adjust gubbins takes up the volume of a token anyway, so maybe it won't help. Its worth a try though, they seem very divey to me. I am comparing to the Bos Deville I had previously which was, with hindsight, fantastic and simple to set up.
