[Closed] Pike Bladder Assembly is bent!

I've just disassembled my A1 Pike to do a Charger bleed and fit a Debonair spring, and noticed as soon as I slid the lowers off that the rebound rod wasnt straight and probably wouldnt marry up to the lower leg bolt when I refitted the lowers. Looking at the whole Rebound assembly, it looks like there is (somehow!) a slight bend where the Charger Bladder Assembly screws onto the cartridge tube.

I've no idea how this would have happened. I havent ridden this bike for a few months, but when I last did, the fork was working fine.

I might be able to unscrew the Bladder and reattached, it's almost like it is cross threaded slightly causing the weird angle. It isnt split or leaking at all - which is good news - but I'm still tempted to spend £50 on a new Charger Bladder and hope that will screw onto the old cartridge at the right angle.

Any ideas what might have happened, I've never seen this before.

The bladder is just the rubber part, it slides over the bladder housing which then screws into the top cap and lower section of the damper.
I can't really see how it could bend in situe, could easily be damaged if dropped while the cartridge was out.
The rebuild kit won't include anything to replace bent parts, not even sure if individual damper parts are available, might be a complete damper.

Yeah, bought a complete new damper, upgraded v2 one apparently, £160 on CRC.

Which means I can work out what went wrong with the old one, it did bend in situ - 100% sure of that. Like I said, it's either where the damper joins the lower cartridge cylinder or the bladder itself (well, the assembly inside the rubber sleeve).

Maybe related?

Though probably not as in my case the assembly looked straight, just the rebound rod doesn't align with the bolt hole. I fitted it anyway as the rod had a bit of flex and been running fine in my old Lyriks. No idea if it's causing and rub internally but feels okay. I only ride it occasionally compared to my other bikes.

It’s possible that one of the assemblies is cross threaded, the tube that is underneath the bladder that screws into the top cap has quite a fine pitch thread & easy to cross.

I had this, very strange. Ended up sending them off to TF Tuned who said it had been cross threaded as above.
Still bizarre though as, like you, they were working all fine until I came to drop the lowers.

If you haven't used that and fancy something different, it looks like I'm going to be selling an Avalanche damper in the near future

Thanks Loco, I'll drain the oil and check that link. Might make for a useful upgrade on a non Charger set of Revs that Miss AD runs on her hardtail.
