So I'm changing the airshaft on my solo air pikes and need a bit of help.
I've been watching the MBR video on you tube and on it he says when attaching the lowers you need to do it with the fork fully compressed.
However I've just fitted the new air shaft and every time I push it in the the stanchion it pops back out under pressure. I've not fitted the top cap yet.
Is this normal ?
Cheers.
I've never compressed forks on reassembly, and I've done it on all forks including pikes countless times. I hear about this trapped air and funny things going on between air chambers but never experienced it.
I'd be putting the top cap on, then attaching the lowers and wouldn't bother with compressing them. Follow the sram videos rather than mbr.
Is this normal ?
Yes - just the negative air chamber doing its thing.

Yep, don't compress.
