[Closed] Pike air shaft - air transfer port?

I'm checking an issue where my Pikes are sagging to 20% travel, so suspect the air transfer port could be blocked after consulting the internet. If I pull them up to full travel, I hear that phhfft sound.

I've removed the air shaft but can't locate this mythical port? Nor is there a hidden schraeder valve at the base of the shaft to release the  negative pressure.

Can anyone describe what I'm looking for?

And, what exactly is the back up ring and wavy washer's purpose?

The dimple of the port is located 3/4 of a fingers length up inside the stanchion (it's approx 1.5mm cubed). The common cause of issue with it is an excess of grease from the factory, which can end up congealed on top of the air shaft head. Don't over grease on reassembly (I even drop 1ml of oil in).

I'm no shock wiz, but is the port not there to pressurise the negative side of the spring and therefore make the sag easier to attain by overcoming the seal stiction? If so, if the port is blocked with grease and you clean it out then surely this would only increase the sag even more, I would suspect that too much air is getting into the negative side via a worn seal or something similar.

As above.

I just did mine on Monday night after having the same issue. Found about half a tub of grease in the air shaft assembly. Followed the manual on reassembly and used a "liberal" about of grease. Hopefully the forks wont suck down after riding...have yet to test however. Fingers crossed.   And the washers...no idea - they don't seem to lock to anything, so I assume they are free to move up and down!

Yeah, I dont really understand the physics of it.  I assumed the port was allowing air to leave the negative side of the chamber, but only at specific points in the forks cycle, due to where the dimple is.

Anyway, seems good now, but only riding is going to tell.

Still interested in the function of the washers....
