Hoping someone can help I'm looking for a route mainly off road from Pickering to Runswick Bay for a little friday night ride with an over night bivi on the beach Does anybody know the area well enough or is it a case of join the dots with an os map?

There are the 'moor to sea' routes which go past Dalby and over to the coast

Plus the cinder track old railway from scarbough to whitby. You could work something out based in them. Wouldn't be over technical, mainly fire roads and similar. But would be mostly off road

Not too fussy about tech just a nice evening ride after work waking up the next morning by the sea. Just riding no time pressures just enjoying being outdoors with a twist at the end.

Just rethinking Malton may be easier to get to by train from leeds and if just fire and minor roads it could be done with the cross bike rather than the mtb.

Train to Scarborough and then the cycle path along the old rail line to Whitby and probably fine on a cross bike.

Then make up your route to Runswick bay.
