Looks like the one on my bike has died, well when i say looks like it has, the cranks won’t move on my camber.

Looking online there’s sram ones and hope do one, looking at reviews they seem to have failure rates less than 6 months

So are any particularly better than others or just stick a sram one back in and change every 6 months? The stock one lasted 2 years so that’s a good start!

I've put a hope one in my bike.

I think the difference with the hope is at least you can just swap out the cartridge bearings rather than tossing the whole thing in the bin.

I've not ridden much on mine (spent a lot of last year nursing a busted shoulder and then got back into sailing) but it was well reviewed by the STW masses when I asked a similar question about 18 months ago.

I used the opportunity to go back to a Shimano (24mm axle) crank so I could have bigger bearings than what fits inside the BB shell. It helped that I had one kicking around which cut the cost of doing so.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Sram changed there pf30 at some point. I had the first generation ones that had a normal bb30 bearing in. And after glueing the plastic cups into the frame have been able to change just the bearings a few rims over the last 4 year.

Later sram pf30 use a different bearing and I’m not sure you can get it on its own.

If you have the money hope or fit the gusset one of your happy with some regreaseing

Also interested in this.

So does the Hope PF30 BB allow you to run a shimano 24mm axle?

Hi bomberman.

There are two versions of the Hope pf30 BB. One takes a SRAM or similar crank with the 30mm axle. The other is for 24mm axles a la Shimano.

I had the luxury of a spare Shimano XT crank so I chose the Shimano friendly version.

I think there are reducer sets that can convert pf30 to 24mm or gxp standards for other brands too.

FSA sell a metal sleeve that converts a pf30 frame to standard threaded bb.

Available on CRC, got one on my enduro 29. One less daft standard to worry about.

Try finding a decent PF30 83mm. Hope doesn't work, so fitted the SRAM plastic sleeves, a threaded BB and never looked back.
