Website says loop 2 is closed and diversions are in place on loop 1. Just wondering how up to date this info is as I was hoping to visit for the first time tomorrow.

Top of longer loop remains shut due to fallen trees - well, was on Saturday anyway.

PS - shame as it was riding beautifully.

Still worth a visit then? Other option is doing something from Staveley and waiting until Penmachno is fully open.

Yep, follow the diversion and you can push/carry a little bit up the trail to gain momentum for the next section.

Is it still like riding through a stream?

Not on the weekend, no. I know the temp was decent but considering how much melt water is coming down from the mountain range it's in very good nick.

Loop 2 has a diversion that can be ignored (there's a bit of broken boardwalk) but the top of the big decent on loop one is probably never going to be the same again - complete carnage. Looks like they'll have to put the machines through there and unless they're amazingly careful they'll kill the track and have to rebuild whole sections.

Something else to hate Brexit for - a lot of funding for new track in the area came from the EU (although the track the volunteers have maintained is much nicer than the pump-style new stuff). Can't see UK.gov seeing MTB trail funding in Wales as a priority when they can't/won't fund the NHS.

Anyway, still open but that is a big loss.
