I've done a search but couldn't find anything on these so apologies if already covered somewhere.

I haven't heard of Pembree and noticed that RW dropped a stealth add on his latest YT video....

So they're 'carbon balanced' by means of planting loads of trees and buying sustainably generated electricity - I like the sentiment, but I'm always a bit dubious about carbon offsetting.

Pedals look nice, but not convinced at £109 for the D2A and £179 for the R1V pedals.

Anyone here use them?

Carbon offsetting isn't perfect by any means, but it's a lot better than doing nothing.

Phil at Pembree is really trying his best to do sustainable cnc manufacturing. All made in the U.K. He’s a good bloke. The pedals look great. If you can afford a set they’re a lovely thing to have.

@ £109, they're no more expensive than Hope or Burgtec I suppose.

They look decent enough too.

I don't need new pedals, but I can't help but admire both the items themselves, the company and the ethos.

saved for (near) future reference.

don't think the pedals look that nice and the pins don't look like they would grip much. Far too expensive when you can get unite instinct pedals for £80 (still bloody expensive). aluminium takes a lot of energy to extract from its ore. Must be planting a huge amount of trees to offset the carbon emissions.

That depends. If you're using billets made from recycled aluminium that removes a huge amount of embedded CO2 from your manufacturing process so the carbon emissions probably aren't as large as you'd expect. Plus I believe Pembree's manufacturing facility is wind/solar powered so that also helps.

I don't think there are many things in the bike industry made from recycled aluminium - i might be wrong, but would have thought they'd bee shouted about more if they were.

Has anyone seen a decent review for either the Pembree or Unite pedals? I’ve been looking for some new ones and trying to find options other than another pair of Burgtec Penthouse Flats.

He’d be playing fast and loose with the “Aerospace Grade Aluminium” claim too if it was actually aero material swept off the floor and recycled. Somehow I doubt it is

Waste aluminium is extremely valuable so is recycled heavily, in all likelihood there is recycled material within it.
