Or a day-to-day beater that I'll never wear cycling shoes with (or if I want to winter train, I'll stick spds on seperately).

Is there anything better than a pair of Wellgo MG1's? I haven't bought non-cleated pedals in years!

My beater has some cheap steel platforms with old fashioned plastic toe clips and straps. Probably around £15-20 the lot. On a genuine beater I would resent spending more (says the man who fitted sks mudguards to it). I would commend the clips and straps approach though as it makes just about any shoe secure on the pedal.

But who doesn't end up spending huge amounts of money on a "beater"?
