So i have a set of Burgtec Mk4 composites on my HT. Not had masses of use but out for a ride earlier and the right pedal is making a horrific noise, along with a vibration on each pedal stroke. Less than 4 months old. Are the bearings and internals specific to pedal brand or is there a universal service kit out there somewhere i havent stumbled upon?

Doubt there is a universal kit though I'm sure some kits feature the same outboard bearing etc. across brands. Even then, it would be cheaper to just buy the bearing than a kit that mostly didn't fit.

At 4 months old I'd be inclined to contact the retailer and look at a warranty return?

Issue is i bought them over a year ago as a spare set. They were too cheap to pass up 😂

Ah! If strip them and see what the issue is then mate. I'm guessing you have an internal bushing and external bearing. Not sure if you need ant "fancy" tools to take them apart? Their website/ yt Should tell you.😁

Could just need a strip down and lube. My V12 mag started honking one ride, the bush has gone dry, quick clean and dab of grease and it was job sorted.

^^ There are so many innuendos in that post I'm not sure where to begin.

Whats the goto lube/grease for for pedals? Ive got a varying stash including copper, silicone, some heavy duty stuff i use in the caravan jockey wheel and hitch, or is something more like chain lube recommended?

Not sure of those specific pedals. But the shimano ones are very easy to service. So if they are anything like them it should be no problem.

I just use a multi purpose grease. Only a few quid from screwfix https://www.screwfix.com/p/granville-multipurpose-grease-400ml/8436P?tc=GA9&ds_kid=92700046638549236&ds_rl=1243318&ds_rl=1241687&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1245250&gclid=Cj0KCQiAst2BBhDJARIsAGo2ldUY4zphP3r8gS9Cx48yUk6X4m7yXbL1MrQ0TgFbYaGN2huSC2zJbA4aAhYpEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

The Burgtec rebuild kit is under £20 so I'd just buy that but I'd take em apart and make sure they're clean check over before buying. I expect, looking at the contents that none of it's exclusive but doubt you'd be able to source the bits separately cheaper elsewhere.

Good shout @Breadcrumb! Just stripped them to find the bushing bone dry and that end of the spindle wrapped in what looked like hair?! Quick clean and regrease and back to normal duty. Cheers!

Glad that sorted out for you @danmac 👍

New bearings/bushes and usually only needed when you get some play on the pedal.
