Just degreased drivetrain on my new gravel bike, after a maiden 20 mile shakedown ride on the factory chain grease.

My goto lube for gravel and MTB is Wolftooth WT-1, and I really rate it. I do however have a brand new small bottle of the fancy Peatys premium stuff that I ordered on a Friday night whim a few weeks back... I used to use the regular minty green peaty lube which I though was pretty good.

Any experiences with the premium one, or a reason to try over the WT-1 ? Have a 5 day gravel bikepacking ride on Kintyre Way next week so want versatile lube that is long lasting, though will take a top up anyway.

Gratuitous bike pic too 🤪

I’ve got the same wheels on my Spesh bike. Similar drivetrain by the looks of it too!

I’m about to wax mine and then use Silca SS to top it up with. Doesn’t answer your question though I’m afraid. I just liked the look of your bike so felt the need to comment!

Edit- Oh,  and I’m about to put an X01 chain on it too.

I use both the blue and the white Peaty's lubes, blue for summer/dry spells and the white for winter. The formulas of both are based on the old Wickens and Soderstrom lubes that were raved about on here a few years ago, I think the bods behind Peaty's are the same ones possibly via a buyout. Either way they perform the same as the Wickens stuff did for me.

The blue lube works really well for shorter rides all year round and for longer rides in summer, the white one works really well in the winter but can clog up the chain a little (nowhere near Muc-Off levels!!) in dusty conditions but never enough to cause any issues. Both clean up easily with just water and a reapplication so no gunky chain to worry about. You do need to apply them well before a ride though and not wipe it off to fast, I reapply them an hour or two before a ride and leave it a good 30 mins before wiping the chain down, never had an issue doing it that way.

They work better than my stash of old formula Rock N Roll blue lube as a gauge for my experience.

I was an early convert to Wickens & Soderstrum and was delighted to hear Peaty's was the same in another form.

I use the all weather premium all year round, pretty much as reluctant jumper does, but my regime has be lubing straight after a ride and wiping down just before the next.

good to know, I used to use the W&S stuff too and really liked it. Chain now clean and dry, will go for a Peaty's Premium lube after work methinks !

Yep - just changed last week to Peattys All Weather Link Lube premium (the white one).

Did an 83km/8hour mixed weather ride at the weekend and im well impressed - its picked up a bit of colour/darkness but nothing like others I've used have on much shorter rides - and it was lovely and smooth/quiet. Impressed so far.

You won't need to degrease it either - a blast with water, wipe and re-application and you're done.

Applied last night to freshly degreased new drivechain. Haven’t wiped it down yet but will do before riding tomorrow.
