So, after a long break there's going to be another Peaks Pootle on December 1st, starting at 10am in either the Hope, Derwent or Edale Valleys. I'll decide that and the route later.

As always, it'll be a 15mile ish ride around some trails in the Dark Peak with the emphasis on the social side of things, so....

1) if you're fast, hold the gates and count the folks through
2) if you're slow - have something to talk about with the other 20 people with you
3) bring cake
Pootles aren't a typical 'group ride'. I started them 'cos I hated being the person at the back. I wanted a group ride for the people at the back. There aren't any people at the back in a pootle.

Typical pootle traditions shall be upheld i.e. there will be cake, there will be banter, and there will be a pint after in a pleasant pub to warm those toes!

It's been a while, but what can i say, i've missed doing it.

And i did promise.

Previous cold pootles:

Right the important stuff first:

What t***s for pootling and

Carrot cake or brownies?

There is racing that weekend but it would be good to attend one of these before my 51st year ends.

Ooh, I might try and make this - and annoy everyone in real life, instead of behind a keyboard 😉

I'm actually quite sociable really 🙂

I'm planning two routes - one for if the ground's frozen, one for if it's boggy.

And of course there'll be a collection for mountain rescue too as usual. Pootles have raised a modest £120ish so far from the three pootles we've collected at.

I'd love to. Hardly done any riding in the peaks. I may bring a bike with funny size wheels. That'll be something to 'discuss'! That and beetroot cake. Trust me on that!

I may well give the new bike a proper debut.

Think the first bit is quite quick anyway, its the waiting for the hole to heal after that takes the time.

I'll be rear gunner as normal Pook!!

I think I might actually make the trek over from Aberystwyth to do this... The last one I rode (in 2010) was great. Now... which bike to choose for a Peaks Pootle, hmmmmm...?

Mr Pook, is this singlespeed country?

Last I remember riding up there was a pootle along the Tissington Trail.... way back in 97 😳

@bikebuoy - I live in PootleLand and that's all I have been riding for nearly 3 years - it hurts a lot but it can be done.

EDIT: and it's rigid.

Apologies people but if you think you're on rear gunner duties, then you reckoned without one thing! Me! 🙂

Got my passport and my jabs, and I'll be heading over from the north! Yay! Might even get the big bouncy bike out so I'll be even slower than usual.

@bikebuoy - about half an hour's drive away on a clear road, could be a bit longer depending upon where Pookles chooses to meet.

Permission granted! Now bouncy slow fast down, rigid gears or rigid single speed? never taken the single speed to the peak, will have to find a front brake though.

We'll for the route I expect we'll be doing, some bits will suit a bouncy bike, other bits will suit a rigid....

Funny wheel sizes on the other hand.....

This is on the day before I go back to work 9 weeks after surgery, and 2 years of getting fatter, crapper and weaker. I may come along just as a contender for the slowest rider. 🙂

For anyone worried about holding up the rear don't worry, I guarantee I'm slower and less fitter, plus I only have a big bouncy bike which slows me down even more.

Taz I found castration is a good way of calming over exuberance in young pups - much better than a muzzle!

Finally, I can actually make a Pootle event YEEEHAAAA.

I plan to bake large quantities of mini-Victoria sponges (cup genre), iced; finished with either a Jelly-Tot, Smartie or other - open to suggestions/mini-poll?

They'll be carried throughout the day, in case of emergency 🙄 😆
