*shakes head sadly*
first thing on the video by the southerner is him riding the singletrack and avoiding the rocks
ach, for shame!
Ah! I need new cranks. Checking last night everything is loose spline/threadwise. Ive never had a crankarml
fall off before
I jumped in a puddle to soak Morton if that's what you mean?
^ answer above Pooky ^
I did too to soak my mate Ian. I inadvertently mis-timed it and got somebody else 😳
😆
Ahhh sunshine, bikes and puddles...
I don't think Chrissyj and I got any innocent bystanders during puddle wars, no one said anything. If we did, I'm really really sorry.
My shoes are almost dry.
I tried to get everyone. Pansies.
Actually, watching that video has reminded me of a serious point - Gate Duty.
If you open a gate, you should close it. If you're a whippet, that might mean standing there for a while as loads of people come past. You should count everyone through, then close it after you
As last man down on some of the descents, I found a couple of gates propped open. As a local, I know that these gates are always closed. I've never seen them left open in over ten years riding round there. Just be aware - if you open a gate, you close it when you leave, or you get a volunteer to stay and close it
Oh, and hooray for goretex shoes, they're ace for puddle wars. I got someone (Bregante maybe?) at the top of pindale
I wasn't involved in the puddle wars but i did belt through a few that other people were mincing around, so i'll appologise if i soaked anyone.
It was good weather for getting soaked though.
Nice video!!!
Everything bar my shoes (5:10's they'll be wet for weeks)and socks were dry by the end of the ride. And as someone else mentioned i've picked up a tan s well.
Chrissyj, stop wasting time on here and get your vid sorted. Do you want that fork box later today?
I left the midgate unattended on Rushop as there were 2 elderly walkers (rest uptop) that I went to to warn carefully/cover/block but they said they'd climb upto the higher path. It was their right to be there but on that bit of trail theres the opprtunity not to spot someone round a bend en-mass.
Those 2 must have been in their 80s. Impressed 😀
Mate Its processing on Vimeo now.. I'm out this arvo with Le famille.. 🙁
Here's my feeble offering including a moment of puddle madness...
Love the sound effects!
My excuse for being slow on the descents is that i'm disabled!!
Mine is that I'm fat and without skill.. 🙂
damn my working on (the occasional) weekend...
Just bumped into mintimperial who was full of the joys of the most recent Peaks Pootle.
Sad to have missed it - looks you all had a blinder!
Next time 🙂
That video ^^ is ace - sounds effects FTW!!
Who took the big group shot?
Videos look good - it must have been another fine day out !
Missed it on account of 'priority DH until Whistler' not many weekends until I go and a distinct lack of fitness and skills found me testing both in Wharncliffe 🙂
Mountain bikers at pub shocker!

The videos and pictures are brill.
So looking at some of the pics you all had extra sunbathing time waiting for me 😉
Sorry for keeping you all waiting 😳 I did have a fantastic day and im looking forward to the next one
Vic
Love the videos - ORSUM descending skillz there Mr Tollah. 🙂
love the vids!
Fabulous videos guys! Thank-you!
Quite good seeing the descents at a more 'normal' pace! 😆
I'll sort the photos and watch the other vid later this evening, been riding all day now catching up on the Tour 🙂
Thanks for all the comments about my vid, DH speed is because I is fat init 😀
Always a pleasure 😉
nice vid tollah, loose a couple awesomeness points for taking the chicken run 2 seconds in 🙂 a good 10mins of downhill time, not bad at all.
Hells thanks for posting the recipe already, I was going to ask.
nice vid and effects chrissyj 🙂
cheers again to pook (and nbt) for organising
No probs, but take note in recipe the whole bar of chocolat is the bit that's melted with the butter, the 1/2 bar that has been chopped into small chunks are the chips that are added once everything is mixed!!
And it was a double batch I made!!
nice vid tollah, loose a couple awesomeness points for taking the chicken run 2 seconds in
Opps sorry, the main trail looked more fun, if I'd have known I'd have taken it 🙂

Here's my video guys - short and sweet really. Cheers all for making it a really good day.
Sheldon - awesome photo btw. Mind if I steal it?
woohoo! what a fabulous video! Want to be back there right now (although not scream like a girl this time..)
Well done all of you for making it great!
Like puddles now!..... 😀
Cool video, I must do more off the bike shots!
Drop me a mail and I'll fire over the original
I'll try and stick my footage together tonight, it's quite wobbly. Mega packing is the priority though. I need to tighten the straps on my GoPro.....or grow some breasts 😳
Great vids so far!
^^^^ Cant stop laughing !!! That opitomises (cant spell) the pootle.....How absolutely fantastic!
Once again, what a brill bunch you lot are!(still giggling....)
And, just found this picture of Grattons Catalogue Man in full [s]"looking into the middle distance"[/s] "I'm a little teapot" pose.
FTFY. 😉
Great video Pook, thanks for the ride leading/cat herding.
videos and photos all brilliant.
I'm looking forward to the next one you crazy mtbing people.
I was actually admiring your large magnificant testicles.
Argh! I'm say with work for a week with just my smartphone. I can't see pook's video until Friday.
U need an I pad!!!
If I get chance tomorrow I'll run a conversion - I won't upload it though - just stick it in my dropbox or something. Ee by gum
It's only because the wife said I looked a bit quick on one bit.
Pindale. You don't look as quick as last time ;o)
But this time I managed to stay on the bike.
I'm sure is wasn't that loose last time either.
The rain will have done a lot of damage. The smaller stuff that filled the gaps was a lot more washed out leaving just the big rocks to ping about off.
It's a service I provide this making up excuses for you 😉
Thank you. It is appreciated. It sounds so much more convincing coming from you.
😀
forgot to say folks, that thanks to your generosity the pootle raised just shy of £40 for edale mountain rescue.
cheers
See, now, having seen all three videos I'm really sad to have missed that. Never mind, maybe when I become wealthy enough to own a car I can pop along. Either that or save for trains and plan ahead... oh who am I kidding?
SPhora - MemberI was actually admiring your large magnificent testicles.
Understandable, but they do catch on my pedals and slow me down.
bit of a thrill though eh?
swampy - where are you based?
Next time I hope to join you
Next time I hope to join you
We have space if you need to kip over. We'll ride tandem too. That kind of leads to the conclusion it should be somewhere near marple to make it easier for the tandemeers. There's a station in Marple so you don't even need to hire a car, if you can get the tandem on a train...
Oi. don't you go taking away the non-tandemers entertainment by gazumping a steady route.... I've never seen a tandem on the beast.....
You've never been on the back of a tandem, so I'll forgive your assumption that the beast would be more difficult. The length of the wheelbase makes "hard" things much easier, tt's "tight" things you have to worry about (*). Getting a tandem round a switchback is not easy. Thank **** we ride in the peak district where we can't afford corners.
* fnaaaar fnaaaar
tandems are not allowed on trains basically.
Ta for the offer NBT
That looked Pootletastically amusing as ever. Unfortunately I was somewhere overhead between Zurich and Manchester, but I thought fondly of you all as I marvelled at the number of big-boned holidaymakers reading Fifty Shades of Filth. At least I got big air, or something. I'm sure there's a flying over the Peak joke there somewhere. Anyway, next time...
I have been on the back (and front) of a tandem
:op
I have been on the back (and front) of a tandem
My apologies, I do recall seeing the pictures. How much offroad have you done? The Last Drop to Rowarth went pretty well so I'd be happy to try the beast, not sure Mrs NBT would be as sanguine about it though
I rode the old railway from wadebridge to padstow.
it was well gnar.
Here's my cut and stick effort. Youtube wanted 6 hours of my life for a HD upload, so it's normal, crappy, standard quality. I hope your eyeballs are glued in, the camera work is a bit shaky 😳

We need an update on the effects of the Gary Ewing Infinite Mechanicals Scenario. For those who haven't heard of it, Gary's theorem suggests that as the number of riders in a group increases, the probability of a mechanical failure increases, as does the chance that the failure will be serious - e.g. if you ride a alone, you might not get a puncture for years, but send a thousand people out on a ride and you'll see some broken frames
From what people said at the time and on this thread we had:

at least four punctures[/*]

a snapped bar end[/*]

a broken mech hanger[/*]

two broken spokes[/*]

a broken pedal[/*]

a blown damping cartridge[/*]
Anything else?
As regards the damping cartridge, I'm sure the guy (ChrissyJ?) said he'd only been riding since August - if that's true, I'd be talking to the retailer about getting it looked at under warranty. The guy with the broken mech hanger also broke some spokes (and I htin kit was him with pedal issues) and should consider a new bike 😛 😆
Didn't Hora's crank fall off on the way up the Roman road?
I had a pinch flat, put in a new tube and ripped the core out when it was nearly up, started again... Fingers crossed that the dented rim will still work tubeless, I've remembered why I took that option in the first place.
Should add, thanks for the tube donation. Would have been a long and miserable walk to the pub.
Be interesting to tally up what tyres punctured and whether or not they were tubeless.
@Onzadog, Larsen TT and tubed, probably not the best idea but i couldn't be arsed changing it.
Andeh, you appear to be the Les Dawson of the filming world, your playing the right bits just not necessarily in the right order 😀
My legs broke 3/4 up Chapel Gate does that count?
Was that why you fell over at the top then 😀
Well I had a pinch flat too, tyres are Geax Saguaro on FSA XC-500 Tubeless Wheelset but wasn't running them as tubeless.
Rim looks to be OK, no obvious damage!
Specialized something or other, run with tubes. Usually tubeless (and bigger volume) but ripped a sidewall the week before, didn't get round to swapping the tyre until Saturday morning and decided to take the quick option.
Xar - MemberWas that why you fell over at the top then
I think you'll find it was a technical dismount and scores an 8.3 level of difficulty. 😀
My blue Heckler developed a serious case of chain suck/rear mech issues.
It's needed a full service for a while now though. Next time I'll bring the Chameleon!

You are Dr Who and you ride a Tardis, ICMFP. 😀
