Going out tomorrow either from Ladybower or Hayfield and wondered whether it's dry and frozen or just really icy? Cheers.

Cold and dry here (about 3 miles from Hayfield). Dry as in, all the mud and puddles are frozen but if it warms up again it'll revert to quagmire. No idea what it's like over Ladybower way, not been there for ages.

I've been out on the sheffield side today and it's very icy anywhere that's normally damp.
Will you get there? 2 inches of snow in Manchester now, probable more by the morning.

Yesterday, there were isolated patches of sheet ice, some tracks - the one down to Aspenshaw Hall for example - featured streams of water ice, so it's either very icy or not icy at all. Of course there's now an inch of snow over the top of it all, should be 'involving'... Laterz.
Ive just been out along rivelin valley, its fine, well, a bit icy but basically fine. If you dont fancy the high peak I would guess the stuff nearer sheffield will be OK

The stepped descent on Middle Moor down to the little stream crossing was as BWD describes. That was 2" of snow cunningly hiding sheet ice. Thankfully we were going up it rather than entering the descent at speed! There were a few sections around Kinder that were like that.
just got back. hope/castleton/mam tor - about 2cm of fresh snow on top of ice in most places. all old snow has gone. lots of ice beneath snow so been warned! Had first off this year (thought it was too good to be true) because of...
Such a good ride! The only time i overtake people on descents is when it's icy, but that's probably just me being an idiot. Very icy though, probably fell off 5 times going up from Peep-O-Day.
