Hey guys.. So I'm off to the Peaks in a few months with the fam.
We aim to do the family friendly Monsal Trail. 8miles of flat gravel as a family a few times..
But I will look to get out on my own for a day or two..
Can I do a long MTB loop from that area? Ideally riding from Cresbrook.
For the evening rides:
What's local that I can do in a few hours door to door? Ideally riding from the door in Cressbrook where we are staying.
I'll have both the monstercross (2.0" 650b and drops) and the MTB with me.
Any advice and pointers appreciated.!
Thnaks.
Have a look on the OS map, every bridleway is rideable.
You could try Cherpit Lane - Longstone Edge - Black Harry Lane - Eyam - Riley Graves - Coombes Dale - Black Harry Gate - Around the slurry lake - back to Cressbrook.
You can go in any direction & pick up a decent lap. There is 4 days of riding 🙂 I could describe but would take me all night 👍
put up a thread the week before you go and I'll join you or sort you out with a route, loads of folk on here ride or know rides round there. Like Sherco said, there's tons to go at there, you could head either way from cressbrook into the wye valley towards Buxton or Longstone Edge up to the Quarry and over to Eyam but I'd choose to go down Coombs Dale, it's a cracker for jumps.
Dark peak on your doorstep too, google reckons 20 mins to Hope, if you could get 3hrs out you could climb up the do the Beast from there or Mam Tor loop for 2 hrs and back.
Quite a bit of half decent stuff over towards Bakewell and Chatsworth/Darley Dale, but some cheeky and local knowledge is best
My Mrs. wants to ride the Monsal trail. I've never ridden around there so also keen to hear about anything fun, fast or tech nearby.
all the white peak routes from the VB book gpx are here: https://www.v-publishing.co.uk/books/wpmbdownloads/
The cheedale route is just to the west of where Op is staying and also is on the monsall trail for a time. The bakewell one and the great longstone route also in the area. Ask up on here before you do them as a few of them can be tweaked in a better way.
Brushfield descent would be nice to end with
Nice one.... Some great stuff on here.
Cheers guys, appreciated as ever.
I quite like the Bakewell loop for a scenic ride; but there are a few extra cheeky bits that liven it up a bit.
I've Not done it for years but isn8 the cheedale one hard going in wet weather? Worth thinking about?
Sorry to hijack but I'm also going to the peaks with my wife mid Feb and it saves me opening a new thread.
We're staying in Foolow for a few days and I was hoping to find some nice easy trails for us both, and maybe some longer ones for myself. I've tried creating some routes from Foolow on trail forks and komoot but I've not really done very well. Is it better just to look at bridle ways on an OS map?
