Peak District cheek. Allport Castles?

Is Allport Castles worth attempting on two wheels?
Route that appears logical on first glance would seem to be up the left hand side of upper derwent to Howden reservoir. Pick up the fp heading up Ditch Clough from the big pointy bit of water in front of Fox's piece.
Round in front of the tower and round and down/up to allport Castles farm and from there whence down the Footpath to Allport bridge.
Is it worth doing? Too stop start/ rocky/ muddy/ Stiles?
Cw or Acw to get the best downhill singletrack?
Or better as a hike?
Thanks.

You shouldn't have any problems going up Ditch Clough - I've seen motos up there. As for descents, dunno.

Note however, there is currently a road closure at Derwent for larch disease works.

Can confirm that closure is in place.
Was there Christmas eve.

You could also head SE from Alport Castles across Rowlee Pasture to join up with the BW at the top of the Hagg Farm DH.

None of it is magical lost singletrack though and not something I’d be rushing to ride. Might make a bit of a change if nothing else. Think there’s a small bird hide still up there which is good for shelter if needed.

I did it in the spirit of exploration. It’s a pretty cool landmark and interesting geography. But it’s quite a long ride to get there (and out again) and it’s not super interesting trails. I’ve done it a couple of times but don’t feel a need to rush back.

TLDR: go for the view, not the riding.

Just go for a walk the Alport castles have a great view and the hide was put there to observe Periguin Falcons nesting on the castles.
Having walked along there it wouldn't make me rush to ride it.
