Hi
Is it just me or is the PDF download of the mag for issue 118 missing the Swinley Route and map that was in the print edition ?
i.e.
Classic Ride - Southern Spring Cleaner: Geoff Waugh takes us on a classic ride round Swinley Forest.
It's not just you, feature is missing and appears to have been replaced by a load of ads.
Not checked the pdf, but it was in the app version (I read it there).
Hi, yes, the Swinley article has been removed from the digital issues of the magazine. Despite our best efforts to ensure that all Classic Ride routes are 100% legal, shortly after publication it was brought to our attention that parts of this ride crossed land over which no right of access exists. We are working closely with Cycling UK and local access advocacy groups to address the situation and an article will appear on the website shortly.
Possibly something to do with parts of the route not being on public rights of way?
Maybe they were riding over MOD land, tut, tut...............
Disapointed to see that the article made no mention of Berks On Bikes (BOB) and Gorrick volunteers who built most of the trails in Swinley before Rowan Sorrell came along and joined them up.
thanks for info anyone with a paper version of the mag able to take a pic of the page and email it to me ? emailus#mtb-hol.com (remove # and replace with @) - I'll check the route out on an os map and cut out the dodgy bits
Send someone down next week and we’ll redo it but on legal ROW if you want 👍
Bit of background on the removal and reasons.
